Trump is toast!

So the smoking gun against Trump is somebody was told, by somebody that overheard Trump wanting an investigation..... Well that convinces me! The crime is Trump wants an investigation into corruption.....

The crime is that Trump used a standard diplomatic lever in an utterly graceless way, much as he has a zillion times in the past. Obama's "I can be flexible" line, on the other hand, was delivered with grace and eloquence by a man whose trouser creases send tingles through men's loins.

Morning, campers. In #2 lucius septimius said: The crime is that Trump used a standard diplomatic lever in an utterly graceless way It seemed that was a lot of it, in the beginning--mostly because I see Trump as incredibly graceless and brash, which is very much Not Midwestern (TM). And I've seen no one talk about the right and wrong ways for a president to discuss and negotiate issues with other nations and how Trump's method is wrong.
But the more I've watched these people, that is the veneer they put over their desires. I think this has much more to do with worry about his removal of the Deep State's power and very Republican policy concerns, but their way of presenting this is to point out his expression of these beliefs as dire to the Republic. The folks who have been coming forward have been all about "policy differences" and opinions and nothing in the way of facts. But as I live in flyover country, I know nothing, clearly. And I'm sleepy.

I worked with a guy from NY City. His phone calls with highly entertaining to the rest of around him. Reminds me of Trump, loud, brash, he got to his point and defended his positions with vigor and often a lack of "nuance". If he thought something was stupid.. he say, "THAT IS STUPID!" It rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.

Reply to JCM in 4: Trump is a very common type in New York, but larger than life. His manner is definitely a negative for most people - I cringe a bit when he says ridiculous things, too. When you think about how much people in the rest of the country dislike New Yorkers and their brash ways, and they voted for him anyway, it shows you just how much the average American loathes and despises Hillary Clinton.

And the Obama Administration CIA's spying on the Senate Intelligence Committee was done in a similarly classy way. (I'll bet if you mention that item to 50 liberals, maybe 2 of them will have even heard of it.)

It's even more remarkable a phenomenon considering that Trump is always Trump; he doesn't try to affect accents, "can I get me a huntin' license here", and all that.

An aside: This morning I texted a recent photo of Little OR to a friend who I haven't seen in a while. She immediately replied: "Mixed-race kids are just so beautiful." Now, there's nothing per se *offensive* in her reply; and I'll add that she has mixed-race kids herself (she's white, her husband is ethnically Korean). But I've found over these last 4 years that among my acquaintances, it's invariably the white liberals who seem to feel the need to immediately try to pigeonhole my son on the basis of race.

Reply to Occasional Reader in 8: If you'd told me that in 2015, or even early 2016, I wouldn't have believed it. And I think you've hit on the reason - Trump is always Trump. Urban liberals think rural people are xenophobic and narrow-minded. The truth is, they can smell a phony a mile away. Trump may not be like them, but he takes them seriously, and they respect that.

Interesting developments in the Ukraine corruption scandal, if you believe Brian Cates. He's not well known, but I've found him to be reliable. In this case, his information comes directly from George Kent's testimony, both public and private (i.e. the Basement Tapes). The link goes to a site that unrolls Twitter threads so you can read it without a zillion clicks. https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1195073394850574336.html This is more or less what I thought was going on. The Bidens, the Kerrys, and now the Romneys all had their hands in the piggy bank. People at the State Department cooked up the scheme, let Slow Joe take credit, and are now trying to pretend Trump did what they actually did themselves. Popcorn, anyone?

In other news, today was the first time someone actually said to me, "My pronouns are she/her." It was someone in my online class who I've never interacted with. Her parents engaged in some creative naming and I honestly couldn't tell whether it was a male or female name, and I guessed wrong. She was nice about it, but I'm just wondering why she didn't just say "I'm a woman" like normal people would. Or maybe she's not a woman but prefers she/her. I can't keep up.

You need a better class of acquaintances! :-) As far opposite as I am from any kind of liberal, I would say that a child of mixed parentage being found beautiful is more an observation than an attempt to pigeonhole. The attractiveness of such people is one of the good arguments in favor of stirring up the old melting pot.
