Good morning, campers. Hell week is over and now it's "still crazy busy but without quite so much stress" week.

We also got 3" of snow last night so I had to spend 40 minutes this morning on the driveway to make it passable. Winter weather is here in force.

I've been reading up on the impeachment effort but not posting a lot (well, mostly because of hell week last week). But after sifting through things in my mind, there are several points that the TV pundits keep missing (or at least, I haven't seen folks mentioning this):

  1. Nancy Pelosi set up the rules planning for impeachment back in January 2019. She has been working towards this for a year. Sundance at Conservative Treehouse has mentioned this; no one else has.
  2. Democrats hired LawFare lawyers on Nadler and Schiff's committees, again with the goal to craft impeachment. Another tip of my hat to Sundance on that as well.

Nancy is slipping, though; she admitted that the Dems have been working to remove Trump for 22 months; it used to be she would maintain a very professional persona while she slipped the dagger in your back. She's having more and more trouble maintaining that cover.

I can't remember which representative it was who said that the impeachment process was necessary to prevent Trump from being re-elected in 2020, but that was someone else who let the cat out of the bag as well.

I can't speak highly enough of Sundance's work, though; he has been rock solid in his analysis of the FISA issues, impeachment, you name it. He has a lot of detail and back story, so sometimes you will find it useful to go back and read older posts in order to get a better picture of why he is saying what he is. Based on his analysis, he is very concerned about whether or not William Barr will actually hold people accountable for the trumped up charges against Trump and the whole Russian Collusion nonsense.

I've resolved to have low expectations on this, so that I can hopefully be delightedly surprised when criminal charges are actually filed.

"I can't remember which representative it was who said that the impeachment process was necessary to prevent Trump from being re-elected in 2020,"

Al Green.  And here's Dem shill Politifact's hilarious attempt to spin it.  Quote: "His statement stems from an interview Green gave in May — months before the whistleblower complaint behind the ongoing inquiry was filed.

Now, to a normal person, that would indicate that the Democrats have been jonesin' to impeach Trump for any and every reason, so that he doesn't win in 2020; and that the "whistleblower" garbage was just the pretext they finally came up with.  But to Politifact, it means that Green is vindicated and Trump is a liar, or something.

Just keep repeating "Orange Man Bad" over and over and over again until you stop thinking, peasant.

Meanwhile, Dems are crowing about multiple "Federal Crimes" Drumpf has committed -- bribery, extortion, wire fraud, etc. -- and he's going to be taken off to jail and executed or something.

Schumer is demanding that the ability to call four witnesses for the Senate impeachment trial.

* I think that this means that Schumer has been shut out if the process in the Senate.

* I think it also means that Schumer is convinced that McConnell will move for a fast acquittal in the Senate with no witnesses called.

Oh, so I had those Nazis all wrong, then. --Which means these environmentalists are just showing us love! Oh, how thoughtful!

As much as I would like the Republicans in the Senate to use the impeachment to exact revenge on the Democrats and call witness that expose the corrupt nature of the Biden/Burisma relationship as well as expose a bunch of the people involved in this for being liars and bad actors, I don’t trust Republican Senators to do that kind of thing very well.

I think the corruptions that looks like the Biden/Burisma thing are likely to be very bipartisan and would likely embarrass nearly as many Republicans as it would Democrats. If even just a few prominent Republicans are as dirty as it looks like are the Bidens, then there are powerful people behind our own lines that would likely rather sabotage the Republican Party then be exposed as crooks.

Also, there is the problem of selling past the “yes”.  Once you have the win, everything that is said or added to the discussion after that only risks losing the sale.

Seize the win.

There is nothing so magical about the impeachment that Lindsey Graham or any other Senate Committee leader can’t start subpoenaing the people involved in the Burisma/Biden weirdness and the other principles involved in the impeachment hoax and the Russia Hoax to boot.

They are not do anything like that.

I think they are afraid of exposing just how many of them have hands that are just as dirty as the Democrats.

Do we know if the Democrats really have the votes to pass the impeachment thing out of the house?

I wonder. Is Nancy is making a mistake in allowing for too much time between now and the vote, giving her people a chance to develop cold feet and reconsider their re-election chances?

No one has the heart to tell Schumer that he's not the Senate Majority Leader. He keeps issuing demands and people just nod and ignore him.

Looks like it will have the opposite effect, and make sure Trump is re-elected.
