Morning, campers.

Buzz, you should know that while I was feeling horrible yesterday I was listening to the radio and at some point during the day someone suggested that Michelle Obama would step in and get the Democrat nomination. Alas, I don't remember who it was. But clearly there are other folks considering a Michelle ticket. You haven't given your thoughts or odds that she would instead become the vice presidential pick. To me, this makes a bit more sense in that she can ride Biden's coattails and take over. The downside is, she would have to actually work in the senate.

Doppel, do you want to rethink your bet?

And news is out that Warren is talking to both the Biden and Sanders campaigns, trying to decide between money or ideology. Which one does she choose? I'm thinking she'll go with money.

NPR reported this morning that California has a law requiring corporations to have a quota of women on their board, or face a fine.

I'm sure that hearing that didn't make you feel any better.

I hadn't thought about her in a VP slot, but if the Democrats do go with Biden it would make sense, since she'd be poised to step up if/when he steps down or merely becomes more visibly incapable, and she wouldn't have to fight the accusations of inexperience that she would face at the top of the ticket.

I've just figured that something of this sort is in the works because the current Candidate Clown Car Cavalcade is such a clusterfuck, and because the Obamas have been staying largely out of the public eye, which is unusual for them.  Obama himself seems to be following the Sambo Strategy, i.e., waiting at the top of the tree until all the tigers turn to butter running around it.

Board meeting:

We need to discuss the Q3 shortfall and steps to slow our spend.

Ahem, I think the Boardroom needs chintz curtains.

I know I'm a bad man and stereotyping women, the ladies that hang around here would do just fine on a board.

Hey, if there's been a shortfall and we have to slow our spending, then it makes sense to be chintzy with the boardroom decor budget...

Nope. Michelle will not be on the ticket in any capacity.

I agree!  And anyone who says otherwise is a dog-faced pony soldier.

I'd say Barack has; Michelle not so much, she had her much-touted (by the usual suspects) book and related tour.  Every proggie bookstore in the DC area has had her silly book prominently on display for months.  Now, this would, indeed, be consistent with her being positioned for a run at public office; but it would also be consistent with her just trying to cash in (further) on her husband's last name, before the luster fades.

I know who thinks she'll be the VP nominee, if she can take time away from her duties as Governor of Georgia. And the DNC is just crazy enough to go for it.

But wouldn't Stacy also have to abdicate as Princess of Romania?

If the whole corona virus thing fizzles out, will it be a flash-in-the-pan-demic?

I suppose so. Isn't there something in the Constitution about not recognizing or bestowing titles of nobility?

Here it is. Article 1, Section 9:

No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.[3]

Heh.

This clears the path, of course, for Joe Biden to finally be elected to the US Senate.

Speaking of which....

I know that position is supposed to have no salary, but does she receive an honorarium?

Which means she's going to be the VP of one of them...the question is, which one?

As Imaginary Governor? I think it's like the old Russian joke - she pretends to work and they pretend to pay her.

Serious answer - she has a fake voting rights organization that appears to be her source of income, other than royalties from her romance novels.

I think she'll throw in her lot with Bernie. Not that he's going to be the nominee.
