Good morning.  Here's a site that has a video roundup of all the madness and thuggery that BLM/Antifa is perpetrating here in DC.  Among other things, they invaded a Target store and threatened to "shut your business down" if the store personnel ever call the police to report a black person for anything (e.g. shoplifting).

She's absolutely correct; very brave to have done what she did, and extremely---extremely---fortunate in that she was protected by two people from the other side, something which one can in no way count on.

The right used to be completely correct in assuming the police would step in. Unfortunately, we can no longer assume that is the case, as Democrat mayors are telling the forces to do nothing.

In that kind of situation, what should the Right think but that if they attempt to step in, they will be the ones arrested? And assuming you believe you are in the right to do this, are there *any* lawyers in DC willing to stand up for the rights of the accused when they are arrested?

In her video she gives them a lot of credit, but if I were to have a conversation with her I would point out that she likely received protection because she is cute and pretty and... crucially... visibly Latina. That same protection would not be afforded to me in the same circumstance.

That’s true, at least for certain values of “ step in”.   Conservative protesters simply holding up signs will not be arrested. Of course the problem is, at least in any “blue“ area, they will almost certainly be assaulted; and if they fight back, then they will be arrested.

Quite true on all counts.  Plus, she was clearly lucky enough to have encountered two people from the "we admire women" wing of the drag world, rather than the "we envy and hate women" wing of that world---and lucky enough, too, that drag queens have enough "woke points," especially during "Pride Month," to cast a protecting force field.

Now that is a very interesting and so far confusing story, from what I have read about it. The leftists are claiming that a white SUV pulled up to a group of them, and the occupants opened fire, the leftists returned fire.

Have a video "appointment" with my doctor in about an hour and a half.  I've never done this before.  It will also be my last conversation with said doctor, or any doctor, for the foreseeable future.  Hopefully he'll be nice and give me lots of drugs.

How are things in Atlanta, you may ask?

During the first three weeks of this month — May 31 to June 20 — 75 people have been shot in Atlanta. Last year during that period, 35 people were shot in the city. At this rate it’ll be 100 shot by July. Eleven people have been killed during that three-week period. Last year? Five.

It depends on which office your doctor happens to be in.  The facility I went to was closed because of COVID (which makes perfect sense -- wouldn't want people to be able to see their doctors at a time like this).  Other facilities are open, but those are for specialty appointments, kind of.

Note the detail that it was the hospital that called the police, not the residents or the people who brought the child to the hospital. I've been listening to a series of philosophy lectures called Understanding the Dark Side of Human Nature. The lecturer distinguishes between moral monsters, whom we perceive as completely outside our moral universe, and moral criminals, who do awful things but are recognizably members of our moral community, one of us. I would place the residents of that neighborhood squarely among the moral criminals.

Not much in the news in Seattle link is from the one of the better outlets. But a large number of young girls, mostly run aways have been trafficked in Seattle. The nexus for this is drug trade and homeless camps.

The problem is worse now.

It really pisses me off when people go on about slavery which ended 150 years ago but have no clue as to modern day slavery in their own damn front yard.

Affirmative Action was often described as "reverse racism" in that it reversed the ordinary patterns of racism.  It's also the idea that black people (or people of color generally) are just as capable of being racists as white people.  Of course the left firmly denies that.  In the world of Critical Race Theory, i.e. the racial interpretation of the Communist Manifesto (which Marx would reject utterly), only white people with power can be racist.

It's an idiotic term, IMHO.  There is no "reverse", it's just racism, no matter what the color is of the person engaging in it.

But if a white person gets denied a position in favor of a person of color, solely on the basis of color. That is what called "reverse racism".

I really like babies and little kids. Being a woman, I can probably get away with it a bit, and I really like smiling at little ones and getting them to smile back. So far, no one has given me a hard time about it. I would hate to live in a world where I can't enjoy a baby's smile and compliment the parent for fear of them biting my head off.

Weird remarks I've gotten from "liberals" include:

-Total stranger asking me if he's my son/"where is he from?"/ etc.  (In fact, he looks a lot like me, with curly hair and more melanin.)

-People spontaneously offering the thought to me that, gosh, it must be hard for me getting acceptance for my son from my family.  (That is, from people who don't actually know my family.)

-The kooky rich-liberal lady at a pizza restaurant who walked up to our table, said to my son  "you should learn all about Thurgood Marshall!", then said to me, "you should teach him all about Thurgood Marshall!".  Because, I guess, you know... melanin.
