Reply to vxbush in 2: Oddly no. The mayor last night declared her complete impotence, hence the governor's decision. So far she seems to be going along with it. I suspect it's because she knows the police won't cooperate with her and she doesn't yet have an army of social workers to "deescalate" the violence.

Good morning. Been navigating the websites for getting the assistance I need for the Squire. Right now some of it is in the hurry up and wait aspect. Things are moving at least.

Reply to Occasional Reader in 19: I know, and I'm not discounting them completely. Their leader sounds pretty unhinged. Under Georgia law, the only thing they did that was illegal was marching without a permit, and I think the police did the right thing by letting them proceed under police escort. If they weren't before, they're certainly on a list somewhere. I just feel like there are too many things to worry about and they are not at the top of my list right now.

Planning a family conference at the end of the month with his mother and figure out where to go from here. Trick is trying to convince her to move closer to assist with caring for him when school goes back in what ever form that will take.

Reply to Occasional Reader in 21: Glock 42. The BF gave it to me for my birthday a few years ago and taught me to shoot. (He's a certified firearms instructor and used to handle all the training and qualification for the department.) We haven't been to the range since last year due to his back. He offered to build me an AR-15 for my next birthday in October. Hopefully by then he'll have recovered from surgery and he can teach me to use it. I've fired his but I'm not really proficient.

Looks like a nice, very-compact pistol. The dimensions look to be about the same as the Glock 43, which I test-fired and quite liked (though I wound up going with the Sig P365, virtually the same dimensions but 4 more rounds in a flush magazine... couldn't say no to that). Did you get a CCW permit?

Reply to Occasional Reader in 29: It's a nice size for small hands. I think the 43 is a little bigger. I didn't get a CCW. I suppose I could, since Georgia is a shall issue state, but I don't plan to carry. It's really just for target shooting and protecting my home from squirrels.

Well, as of next week face masks are "required" in all buildings by the public in our health district. Hate the damned things with a passion. I feel it's a form of bad "security theater" playing out all over again. The level of fear mongering over this stuff is starting to get to me. Most of my friends are starting to feel the same way about it.

I've decided to move ahead with getting mine (and believe it or not, DC is also shall-issue... not because the city government wants to be, but because they lost a court case). I'm taking the required class next month. And given the current times, yes, I plan to carry, at least selectively.
