Pandemic stupidity. Local townships and city councils are either closing or restricting beach/water access. Currently we are in the middle of a bad heat wave and some people can only get relief in the water. All to "flatten the curve" and enforcing "social distancing". I find the worst part is that some of the population is applauding this decision. God help us all.

We’ll be able to end that restriction by April 1. Oh, wait...

It seems clear that now if you're black you can do anything you want and there will be no consequences.

Does that mean "Black Lives Matter" will now announce victory?

Of course not. We haven't given them all of our money, and they won't be satisfied even then.

OZY---the online magazine of NPR---has a gift guide to "help the protester in your life stay safe on the front lines."

"OZY" is named after Shelley's "Ozymandias." Look on their works, ye mighty, and despair.

I thought it was named for Osbourne, hence rambling, addled, and extraordinarily incoherent.

We had to read that in high school, and I could not make heads or tails of it until the teacher walked us through the poem. Then, I finally got it--but it was not obvious at first.

I first read it some time in junior high, and was mesmerized by it.  Memorized it just because of the language.

I added a line about George Floyd at the beginning of my piece so I could title it "Twilight of the Idols in the Park with George."

I think that's been the case for a while now. It's just that more people are taking advantage of their free pass.

Good effing grief.

I'll add a note about that in the Frontier in a moment.

I wouldn't quite put it that way - not yet, anyway; but it does seem clear that "hate crimes" laws are not meant to protect the likes of you and me - none of this old-fashioned "equal justice under law" stuff; it's about protecting Progressive-Certified Grievance Groups.  In fact, I had no fewer than three Assistant US Attorneys tell me as much - without batting an eye - during a social gathering back around 2002.

And that's why I believe hate crime laws are unconstitutional. Georgia was one of the last holdouts but passed a law last week.

I'm not sure they are per se unconstitutional (though I think they're a bad idea, since they essentially add a "thought crime" component to an actual crime).  But applied unequally, as we're seeing?  Yep.

If hate crimes get an extended sentence....

... shouldn't love crimes get a reduced sentence?

So now "equality" means "tyranny."

Tocqueville predicted it 200 years ago.
