But if I recall the original correctly, the equivalent of those two "Wuhan flu" lines wouldn't be there? I don't think (could be wrong) that "parlez-vous?" appears at those points in the original song.

Sunny day in the Illinois-Wisconsin borderlands. Supposed to get up to 85 degrees, which the locals consider a "heat wave."

A German officer crossed the Rhine Parlez-vous?
A German officer crossed the Rhine He liked the women and loved the wine Hinky dinky parlez-vous Mademoiselle from Armentieres Parlez-vous?
Mademoiselle from Armentieres Parlez-vous?
Mademoiselle from Armentieres Hasn't been f*cked in forty years Hinky dinky parlez-vous He took her upstairs and into bed Parlez-vous?
He took her upstairs and into bed Parlez-vous?
He took her upstairs and into bed And there he cracked her maidenhead Hinky dinky parlez-vous Oh, the first three months and all was well Parlez-vous?
The first three months and all was well Parlez-vous?
The first three months and all was well But the second three months she began to swell Hinky dinky parlez-vous

Reply to Occasional Reader in 9: I learned the lyrics from Dos Passos' "Newsreel" sections in "USA." He's accurate on song lyrics, and he was in WWI, so I'm pretty comfortable with the reference.

Reply to buzzsawmonkey in 7: My elementary school music book said she hadn't been *kissed* in 40 years and that last verse did not exist. Never mind how a woman in her 50s could get knocked up if that verse *did* exist...

Reply to doppelganglander in 11: I've heard the "hasn't been kissed" line too---and it is no surprise that the last verse would be bowdlerized/removed for schoolage consumption. As I've said, I learned the verses above from JDP's "Newsreel" sections in "USA." Aside from trusting the accuracy of his reportage generally, I am certain that as a Great War vet himself, writing a book that would be marketed to other vets among others, he would be accurate here.
