Friday night Pub.  Empty.

If you haven't heard, Walmart will be closed this Thanksgiving (it's 'Black Friday').  Empty.

I've heard. And I think that is a good thing. (Unless you find yourself in need of one critical ingredient for some family dish)

It is a very good thing and (ha) that last needed item will be sought for on a dusty  gas station market shelf.  Not that I would know . . .

Mini-rant.  So I took off this week Tuesday, Wednesday and today, with adequate notice to all concerned, so I could spend time with my son for stuff having to do with his birthday (which was Wednesday).

Both Tuesday afternoon, and early today, I checked nevertheless for conference calls on an issue which is not formally in an area I cover, but for which I have a certain technical expertise.  I said my piece both times, everyone said "thanks".

And then I check my e-mail- foolishly, perhaps - just a little while ago, to see that I'm suddenly being asked to be the last one to pass a certain Hot Potato message to someone else on this subject, "urgently", as in, late f**king Friday night; which message contains all sorts of questionable calls that have been made by my colleagues.

//And yes, I'm overall grateful to have a job, and (overall) a good one that's neither dirty nor dangerous, and that pays well with good benefits, etc. etc.; but this is just not a good day on that job, put it that way

And the official reason for this is... Covid, or... to avoid Black Friday mayhem, or.... ?

Not that I really care, mind you.  Just curious.
