Columbus Day story, as told by Stan Freeberg

As he carries out his dream of opening the first Italian restaurant in the New World

Of course, most people did know the world is round even in Columbus' time.

Especially sailors, who would see the shore drop off the horizon.

The History channel can't get even real history right. The HMS Eagle, attacked by the Revolutionary War submarine Turtle, did not have a propeller, but the "History" channel's animation did.

There are several other errors in that show, never mind the others.

A few years ago, when we had cable, I watched Discovery showing how various ancient monuments could have been built by the technology of their times. Several quite good shows.

The "History" channel had an Ancient Aliens marathon that night.

I used to laugh these things off, until last year when the Navy confirmed convert those FLIR videos were authentic, and that they, the Navy, did not have an explanation for them.

i’ve seen a video offering a convincing case that one of those videos is actually a parallax view of a low-flying goose. OK. But I’ve seen no similar explanation for the video in which the FA-18 is actually chasing something at its same altitude.

Years ago, I read some articles by someone who claimed he examined the Roswell objects. It appeared he had discussed some physics with someone, so his initial articles were somewhat reasonable. They went rapidly downhill.

Don't know what is out there; tried writing a novel about it, but I have given up on writing - just can't get dialog right, because I can't figure out what to say, so I can't write it, either.

We do.  Dez is not on FB tonight so maybe he will still join.  Pietr goes on FB and posts some pretty good things.  I don't think he was ever on C2 but he was at the first blog.  He lives with his daughter now, I believe, but he was a former Air Force guy and was from San Antonio, Texas.  Yochanan (sp) is another one.  He posts often over there and has some fabulous artistic talent.
