Finally found where to get STEEL snow shovels. The plastic ones break in one storm (the steel strip at the bottom comes loose)
Figures it would be Amazon. I don't know where one is made, but the pusher one is made somewhere they know snow - Canada.
I have asked at our local hardware store. All they can get are plastic ones. Must be a Chinese plot to keep us snowed in.

Weird. Our local hardware store has steel shovels a-plenty. I had one that I kept in the car which was all-metal, and gave that one to a friend after that car bit the dust. The current shovel is steel-blade with a wooden handle.
Plastic snow shovels are a sad joke.

Can't get them at the big box hardware stores, either. The local one said he can't get them.
I got a few there before the current owner bought it, and one thin steel one is working fine, plus a 1/8" thick aluminum one. The steel pusher needs to have the blade reattached; I just have to get the right size screw.

I have not had to shovel snow (with one brief exception) since... 1996, I believe. And I don't miss it a bit.

Argh. Somewhat bored, I started watching a series called "Sons of LIberty", about the American Revolution. Interesting subject, of course. In the first episode, Sam Adams suggests to another character that they should organize a "boycott" of Loyalist businesses... a term that would not be invented until the 1880s. Then they jump from the Boston Massacre, to the Boston Tea Party, as if they happened weeks apart (in fact, almost 4 years apart). Oy.
"So I took me to the hashfire inn, for a secret caucus of the hotheads, rebellious libertines all..."

they also don’t even attempt to make the colonials sound like anything other than 21st-century Americans in terms of speech.

That would make him the Lone Minuteman Ranger! Too bad he got caught trying to ride on Silver!

So, I propose a series of movies about our Founding Fathers that present them as superheroes!
Who wants in on the project?

I heard back from Hollywierd. They insist the Founding Fathers be portrayed as supervillians who enslaved the black men and killed the red men, etc.

Oh, dear. And one of the characters just said, “that’s just a bridge too far“ regarding a proposal. As far as I know, that phrase does not precede operation market garden.

OK, but for all my kvetching, the miniseries does show the founding of the country as a noble event. I give them credit for that.

I'm shocked it wasn't canceled in today's culture.

And at least Sam Adams and his friends did not agree to trash the loyalist businesses on Yelp. Anyway, good night to all.
