As I said in the daytime thread, we watched Deadliest Catch over dinner, so I wish everyone a Merry Crabsmas and may Sandy Claws bring you what you want. And here is my song parody for a Deadliest Catch theme song. I think it captures the spirit of the original song: An old crab boat went sailin’ out one dark and stormy day Upon the waves that crested as it sailed along its way When all at once a tired old boat Of hollow-eyed men they saw Pullin’ empty pot after pot Without a single claw I want the crab count And I want it now! Ghost crabbers in the sea Their hooks were still on fire And their pots were made of steel The waves were black and shiny And their cold spray they could feel A bolt of fear went through them as they pulled pot after pot For they saw the skipper pushing hard and heard what crap they got I want the crab count And I want it now! Ghost crabbers in the sea Their faces gaunt, their eyes were blurred, Their gear all soaking wet They’re pulling hard to catch their quota But they ain’t caught nothing yet ‘Cause they’ve got to fish forever On the grounds where many die With boats of ice and fire And still, the captain cries I want the crab count And I want it now! Ghost crabbers in the sea The deck boss looked upon them And words came from his throat If you want to save your souls from hell A-Fishing on our boat Crabbers, change your ways today Or with us you will freeze Tryin’ to catch the Devil’s crab Across these merciless seas I want the crab count And I want it now! Ghost crabbers in the sea Ghost crabbers in the sea Ghost crabbers in the sea Ghost crabbers in the sea

I wish some of the jazz greats of yesteryear were still with us; I'd love to hear some of them swing The Messiah as "Too Hot to Handel."

So we had already opened my son’s “big“ Christmas present, his telescope, on Sunday. But I do have a nice little corner of additional Christmas loot set up to greet him tomorrow morning, at the foot of our somewhat Charlie Brown-ish artificial Christmas tree (are usually get a decent sized natural one, but in my somewhat physically impaired condition this Christmas I decided that was not a good idea, did not want to try to wrestle with one of those). It is currently absolutely pouring rain here in DC. Earlier I noticed a leak coming in from the top of a closed window in the living room. Oh, joy. On the plus side, I’m renting, so it’s not (entirely) my problem.
Relaxing now with a little Baileys and milk, and an ice pack on my knee. Then to bed.
