We aren't the only ones calling the storming of the Capitol by loonies the Democrat's Reichstag Fire - link

Democrats keep claiming that the First Amendment doesn’t permit “shouting fire in a crowded theater”, even while they’re shouting, “Reichstag fire” in the crowded theater of government.

IBM - the Final Solution Company

(It is an ad for a book, but gives you enough information)

Actually, punch cards had been invented in the late-18th/early-19th century by a French weaver---whose name, alas, I am blanking on---who used the cards to program his looms to weave certain patterns in cloth.

Jaquard. And Ada Lovelace, the first programmer, wrote about Babbage's machines  “We may say most aptly that the Analytical Engine weaves algebraical patterns just as the Jacquard-loom weaves flowers and leaves.”

But the first use for data was by Hollerith, for the US 1890 census. IBM used the ideas in the 1930's for a racial census in Germany

I am having a week, and it's only Wednesday. Since Saturday, I've had to scramble to assemble documents to co-sign a lease for my younger daughter; talk my elder daughter through a bad breakup, and deal with my supervisor gaslighting me ("No that's not what I said at all!"). A little while ago my brother texted me to inform me my mother's oldest friend passed away at 98 - oh, and my cousin is hospitalized and needs surgery, while her daughter is failing school and is anorexic and on antidepressants because she hasn't been in school in a year. My cousin lives in Virginia, so I'm not sure what I can do to help, but I feel like I ought to do something.

A story that still resonates today, as Big Tech sucks up to China

The pictures of Uighurs herded onto railroad cars does remind one of the Shoah.

Thanks, turn. Prayers are much appreciated. She's a single mom, her parents are gone and she's an only child. She's always had health problems but with Covid going around, I'm very worried this time.

Your hands are full indeed. Do what you can; pray about the rest. I am having to lean into prayer a lot lately.

That's so creepy. I'm glad I never got hired there when I lived in the Silicon Valley.

I worked for what was at one time IBM's main competitor. It flew itself into the ground due to to the screwups of management

And now one building I still drive by, formerly LKG in Littleton, MA, is now IBM.

And this has been a bad week here, too. And that goes back more than a month. I just have trouble talking about it

Video - she looks like a kid but is a commanding officer of a Coast Guard Cutter - I'm sure she is competent, though

I am sorry. We can pray for an unspoken intention.
