Growing up in O'Boston, we had St. Patrick's day off from school, under the guise of Evacuation Day, when, it was said, the British troops living in people's houses were thrown out, kind of like how St. Patrick threw the snakes out if Ireland.

Well, I think more accurately, it was the day the British evacuated their forces from Boston in 1776.
