Leonard Cohen, not exactly uplifing.

My mother was a travel agent for guilt trips. If she was in a movie, everyone would think the character was over the top.

She'd leave messages on the answering machine that had the guilt dripping out of it.

She passed away before my father, and we had some much better times with him, even if some were extra work for me, like getting chicken at a now closed kosher deli, and bringing the cut up chicken to where he was to eat over the next week.

I'm glad you had those times with your dad.  We had a great uncle who was a good guy but kind of a controlling person.  After he passed away my sister and I got to know our great aunt much better and she was much fun.  She never revealed that to us while she was married.

My mother got in the way of having good times with my father.

My daughter played lacrosse and was on a summer league on BU field, where my father would take me to watch BU football. 

We would go there to watch her. I don't know what he understood, but it was time together.

(My father was a carpenter, maintenance worker, at BU)

If I can think of the song this references, I'll link to it. Dogs are asking to go out

We are cold tonight but it will be 84 during the day on Sunday!
