Good book on the subject.

Drawing the Line: How Mason and Dixon Surveyed the Most Famous Border in America

They didn't have chronometers so they had to use Galileo's observations of the moons of Jupiter to set their time. The Mason Dixon line survey was so accurate it is only slightly off when using modern techniques.

It is a good one, readable, and well written.

Before they could survey they had to clear a path through the woods, dragging the fragile instruments along that path in the wilderness.

Every so often, I get a copy of Science from AAAS trying to get me to re-join. (Way too expensive for the few articles that I am really interested in)

The last time, there was an article about how ship measurements had changed, and that was why they did not show the predicted global warming. The article was about how they adjusted the readings to show global warming.

If you have read Science, you know the articles are academic papers, with references and data.

This one wasn't worthy of Science News (an excellent magazine for the general public). No data. No details.

But the gorebull warming crowd ate it up. It helped me decide not to waste my money.

All the journals now seem to have a Zampolit on the editorial board.

This was a few years ago; back then, you only had to pray to the climate change gods.

Now, it is getting worse.

I wonder when Black Holes will be declared racist.

A while ago, I embarked on a long-term project.

Watching all the Stargate stuff, from movie through SG-1 and Atlantis series.

I usually have maybe 10 minutes a day to watch movies, A very long term project

I would think that it would be very hard to follow a plot this way.
