To be supplemented by: Where to park a tank. (Answer: Wherever you want.) As I think I've mentioned before, the only time I've been inside an Abrams tank, was when there was one in the parking lot of a hotel here in DC in 1999 or 2000, for the US Army Association Convention. The Abrams was parked in a handicapped space. Three or four of them, actually. I found this visually quite funny.

I was quite surprised, and quite pleased, that the tank was open to the public. Also, it seems very few people I had the idea of walking up and asking if they could climb in the tank, so I pretty much had a thing to myself, aside from two or three soldiers who were manning it. Afterward, I strolled into the convention itself, and apparently everybody assumed that because I was a relatively fit looking guy with a short haircut, I must be military. This was pre-9/11, of course, so security was a lot more relaxed than I imagine it is now for these kinds of things. Anyway, that is also where I got to test fire a javelin, at least virtually so.
