This is where people where I (used to) work often go for retirement/leaving parties.

My father told me of a Passover in Algiers, after it was liberated.

There was a 3 story house with Jews living on all 3 floors, and they insisted the GIs attend at least some of the Seder, and have 4 cups of wine, at each one.

I knew a WWII GI who described a seder his unit held in Germany after they crossed the Rhine in 1945.

The Jews who Didn't Leave Egypt

As the article says, we could be seeing the same thing now

For American Jews, our addiction to being insiders is especially dangerous at this moment, because it means siding with people who don’t like Jews very much, and in some cases actively wish us harm. But it’s more than that, for everyone: When status becomes the reward for serving those in power, who in turn reduce the rest of the population to forms of abject powerlessness, then seeking it out becomes toxic.

From the downloadable Chabad Haggadah -

THE NEED for such a great number of plagues is an indication of how deeply we were held captive by the bad energy of Egypt. All of that had to be flushed out by these plagues before we could be torn out of there. Which is all the more we have to be grateful for.

Bags are packed, last bits of work e-mailed off, Little OR and I are covid-tested and negative.  So, tomorrow, we're off to Miami, to breathe the air of Free America, spend time with relatives, and get to the beach.  This will be the first time I've boarded an aircraft in two and a half years.  Sheesh.

Say... why is this night different from all other nights?

I mean it just, you know... feels different.
