In #10 buzzsawmonkey said: I am, alas, not sufficiently versed in the intricacies of M&A dealings in general, let alone these in particular, to say anything other than that, from an observer standpoint, it looks like they got the rawest and most inappropriate of deals---and that there certainly should be some redress forthcoming. How, and from where, I cannot say. My own point here is merely that while some elements of copyright and authorship are certainly involved in what appears to be a very questionable cash grab, that does not make this directly a copyright matter of the same sort that the attacks on copyrights and the copyright term generally (and, specifically, attacks on Disney-held copyrights) are. Yes, this seems to not be a copyright issue but a contract issue. After all, if Sleazeball, Inc purchased a fleet of vehicles with loans, and SleazeBag bought the assets (vehicles) but not liabilities (loan payments), the vehicles could be repossessed, but that is in the financial agreement.

Reply to buzzsawmonkey in 2: I'm glad you enjoyed the article. I don't entirely understand it, but it does appear some creators are getting screwed over by someone.

Reply to Kosh's Shadow in 7: Parody An old crab boat went sailin’ out
one dark and stormy day
Upon the waves that crested
as it sailed along its way
When all at once a tired old boat
Of hollow-eyed men they saw
Pullin’ empty pot after pot
Without a single claw I want the crab count
And I want it now!
Ghost crabbers in the sea Their hooks were still on fire
And their pots were made of steel
The waves were black and shiny
And their cold spray they could feel A bolt of fear went through them
as they pulled pot after pot
For they saw the skipper pushing hard
and heard what crap they got I want the crab count
And I want it now!
Ghost crabbers in the sea Their faces gaunt, their eyes were blurred,
Their gear all soaking wet
They’re pulling hard to catch their quota
But they ain’t caught nothing yet ‘Cause they’ve got to fish forever
On the grounds where many die
With boats of ice and fire
And still, the captain cries I want the crab count
And I want it now!
Ghost crabbers in the sea The deck boss looked upon them
And words came from his throat
If you want to save your souls from hell
A-Fishing on our boat
Crabbers, change your ways today
Or with us you will freeze
Tryin’ to catch the Devil’s crab
Across these merciless seas I want the crab count
And I want it now!
Ghost crabbers in the sea Ghost crabbers in the sea Ghost crabbers in the sea Ghost crabbers in the sea

Little OR is in bed; temperature normal (for the last 3 hours, albeit with Motrin). All seems fine with him except for a little postnasal drip.
