Everyone must be watching the Packers play.  Gosh, I am all alone in the world.  Even our cat watches football with my husband, she likes to watch the little men run around the TV screen.  I really don't think she understands the game any better than I do.  At least Mr Alice has someone to watch football with him.  Now if she'd just remember to bring beer!

I don't even watch the Patriots.

But then, I'm a  jinx. I should ask Patriots fans to pay me not to pay attention to the games

Reply to Kosh's Shadow in 7:   Yeah, I've experienced that phenomenon also.  Like I really have some magical power over the other team's abilities.  When you try to explain it's not you, the home team is just playing terribly, then they get all huffy and mad at you.  I wait for them to start chanting "burn the witch" or something!

Actually, here in DC, there’s this baseball game going on that you may have heard of that a few people are interested in...

/I know you don't care. I'm surprised you even know there's a game.

Reply to Occasional Reader in 9:   My mother always said "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all".  Sometimes, I have been known to actually listen to her.  Seriously, thank goodness there are enough different pastimes(?) to interest us all.  Life would be pretty boring if we had to all like the same things.  I can't watch baseball or football for more than a few minutes, but I can watch a perfectly motionless bobber for hours on end.  That would send some people over the side of the boat in those same few minutes.

Should any off our offline friends and associates whine about Nancy and Chuck not being informed of the Bagdadi raid, remind them that both Nancy and Chuck stormed out of a meeting on Syria with Trump a few days ago.

Reply to Syrah in 12:   Did you watch the President's new conference this morning?  I loved it when he said something to the effect that he couldn't inform congress before hand because the leaks would have been deadly for our troops.

Who would have thought Monty Python's villagers would resemble our Democrat elected official so closely a few years later?

They at least are willing to accept evidence! Dems today think Trump is GUILTY!

Kosh, below is a copy of a commenter post from Althouse.  It certainly applies.

I think the media on both sides have come to believe that real public opinion will be formed by repeated (repeated repeated repeated) repetition (repetition repetition repetition) of stories that claim "every one agrees with the author of this story."

I'm waiting for this approach to be applied to the sports sections: "The Redskins must win." "The Redskins obviously are favored to win for the following reasons." "Experts agree that the Redskins are the better team." "The Redskins won! The final score was Vikings 19-Redskins 9. Experts agree this was essentially a win for the Redskins." "Redskins continue to build on their victory over the vikings." "Redskins post-season appearance is now assured."
