I am seeing commentary that suggests that Ukraine had asked Mr. Vindman to be their Defense Secretary.

It's about solidifying the base.  The problem is the 8-12% in the middle.  I read an analysis today that said that, if this follows the pattern of the Clinton impeachment, Trump's popularity will only go up.  If the middle decides this is all a pile of crap (which seems to be the case so far) it will work against the Dems.  It really is a matter, though, of individual districts.  That will be the real tell.  Although it is a "national" crisis, when it comes to actual voting patterns it's all small ball.

Very odd. It's also possible he's making it up. This is the guy who claimed to be the President's principal adviser on Ukraine when he wasn't, and in fact has never met the President.

The thing is, the base for the Dems is solid (as solid as a bunch of loonies can be)..

They are repeating the mistake the Republicans made when they impeached Clinton.

Of course, the Dems do tend to repeat mistakes of others, like the mistakes of Hugo Chavez, Stalin, Mao.....

I would like to think that voters will punish the Democrats for this farce, but I'm afraid they're too unhinged to think logically. On the plus side, their presidential candidate is guaranteed to be a disaster. A lot of them might just stay home.
