Evening, y’all and youse.  So: Earlier this evening, Little OR (who is now in bed) asked me what is 16×16. I gave the wrong answer. He thought about it, politely told me that I was wrong, thought about it more, and gave me the right answer.

I mean, I know  by definition I can’t be objective about this, but I think that’s pretty damn impressive for 4 1/2 years old.

He could have a great future in software.  If he makes enough to retire around 40-45

You see, knowing powers of 2 is very useful in software engineering, since computers use the binary system

Most four-year-olds can't count to 100, let alone multiply two-digit numbers. Very impressive indeed.

... after buying daddy a private Caribbean island as a way of saying “thank you“, of course.

in fairness, I think he had it memorized; both his mom and I have gone through the squares of numbers with him, I only took it up to 12 but she said she took it to 20. That said, he *can* multiply double digit numbers in his head to some degree, and has his single digit times table down pretty much cold.

I believe there is one for sale. You might want to have the place fumigated and exorcised, though, since Epstein owned it.

That's something I used to do with the kids in the car on trips -- have them solve multiplication and division problems in their heads.  Natural competitiveness aided in that.

Interesting. I hated math until we got to algebra. I went from barely passing to A's. Strange

And as of today, I have not taught a course for 6 months, which means I will probably be dropped as an instructor.

Thanks, #!$#*!$#! Obama. You took away my retirement plan.

Obama's attack on for-profit colleges killed my part-time teaching; the school almost admitted it.

Used to make as much as $12,000/yr' last year, under $4000. Two courses, it appears.

You see, this school was accredited, did actually give students an education (not cheap. though), but did not, as far as I could tell, indoctrinate students. That's hard for students who have been in the real world and can tell bullshit when they are shown it, even if it is described as top sirloin.

That’s what HE does to ME now when we are in the car. Really. I was prepared for the diaper changes in becoming a dad; but nobody told me there would be math...

Not all liberals are completely screwed up

Chrissie Hynde, the lead singer of the rock band The Pretenders, gave a surprising message to President Trump on Monday, saying her father “would have been so delighted” to hear that the president honored the controversial conservative radio icon Rush Limbaugh with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor.

“An open Letter to  @realDonaldTrump, President of the United States. Dear Mr. President, I often think of how much my father, Melville “Bud” Hynde, who proudly served his country as a Marine on Guadalcanal, would have enjoyed your Presidency. [p1.]” Hynde wrote in a series of numbered tweets.

Hynde continued: “But isn’t that the American way? The right to disagree without having your head chopped off? Soon, I will be participating in a protest in London against the extradition of Julian Assange. I know my father would be mortified, but I feel strongly enough to do [p3.].”

“The other day when you gave that award to Rush Limbaugh, my father would have been so delighted,” she explained. “He loved listening to Rush, which is why I allowed my song, 'My City Was Gone', to be used on his radio show. My father and I didn't always see eye-to-eye. We argued a lot [p2.]”

What is so bad is he's more sane than Sanders, and more honest than Warren.

(Talk about faint praise)

That should be 256, not 265. Sheesh. Should I be concerned about our Defense Department software???
