I think this jukebox is the theme of the pub recently

Although it takes a lot of drinks to deal with the Bloomberg ads before and after every video

As for "Bloomin' Idiot", if he tried to plant the way he denigrated farmers, he wouldn't be blooming much.

I'm not a farmer, but I know it takes a lot of knowledge and work, It isn't throwing seeds in the ground and covering them with dirt.

Fear and loathing of Bernie Sanders

I don't like the term "Bernie Bros"

I prefer "Sandersnistas" or maybe "Bernie Brownshirts"

Bernie takes Nevada.

Not a close race.

Buzz,  one article I read did mention Grenell's sexual orientation.

It was in the Jerusalem Post, and supported his view on Iran.

But if I have to rate the news sources on their ability to cover both sides:

1) Jerusalem Post

2) Fox News

3) Boston Herald

Way lower than 4: Boston Globe

Nope.  Hello, Trump 2020 landslide.  Goodbye, Democratic Party.

Yes. Trump landslide, and the MSM will insist it was due to Russia.

Instead of coattails, Sanders will have a thagomizer (the spikes at the end of a stegosaurus tail), and the Republicans will win back the House

Except for states like assachusetts.

A paleontologist realized there was no official name for it, so he used one from a Far Side cartoon

Ants and grasshoppers.

While I am not a full on “proper“, at this point I feel at least reasonably well prepared if we were to face a mandatory quarantine or something of that nature due to coronavirus or something similar. What is my moral obligation toward the enormous majority of the people I know here in DC who have done zero preparation, and likely would do zero preparation?  (As it is, I’ve already purchased supplies which I plan on handing to my son’s mother and saying, please just take this; since chances are 50-50 my son would be with her if and when that hypothetical order happened.)

I was discussing seduced-and-abandoned songs with some friends today; you may recall I was discussing them here a few days ago.  One friend mentioned the song "All Around My Hat (I Shall Wear the Green Willow)," a British folk song with which I was unfamiliar.

This is actually a song where the woman refuses the false lover who tries to get her to sleep with him; her wearing the green willow, a symbol of virginity, for "a twelvemonth and a day," i.e., longer than the cycle of pregnancy, is her way of saying she refused him since he offered her "a fine diamond ring," but not marriage.  The key phrase, in the diamond-ring verse, is her saying, "...but I, being careful..." which is the opposite of the seduced-and-abandoned theme of the song "Careless Love" in its many forms.

I'm trying to put all this stuff into a reasonably-short essay.

i want to believe that there is no chance that Americans would vote for Bernie Sanders for President.

i have doubts.

They voted for Hillary.

The Electoral College saved our asses.

At the very least roughly 40,000,000 of them will. Don’t kid yourself otherwise. But hopefully it won’t be much more than that.

i am putting together some “earthquake emergency kits” for some friends and family.

Sacks of rice, sacks of beans and lentils. Some canned goods, meats and chili. A can opener. Nitrile gloves and maybe some surgical masks.

Packed in a five gallon bucket.

The buckets have the advantage of being easy to throw in the trunk of car if they need to “get out of Dodge.”

Something to think about is things like paper towels and toilet paper.

when the panics come, it will be like the coastal towns in Hurricane zones.  The stores will get cleaned out. The simple comforts that are easy to take for granted and forget about until they can’t be got, should be considered.

There is no need to hoard, just think about what would really suck to run out of for two weeks. For example, toothpaste. It won’t hurt to have an extra tube in the towel closet until all of this blows over.

I’d go with four weeks or five. But, yes.

And to state what should be the obvious to folks here; any disaster preparedness plan has to include guns and ammunition (and training). It would be a shame if all your carefully collected preparation material were simply taken away by goblins on day one.

More lyrics from the song

Where money stood
We planted seeds of rebirth
And stabbed the backs of fathers
Sons of dirt

Infiltrated business cesspools
Hating through our sleeves
Yea, and we slit the Catholic throat
Stoned the poor
On slogans such as

'Wish You Could Hear'
'Love Is All We Need'
'Kick Out The Jams'
'Kick Out Your Mother'
'Cut Up Your Friend'
'Screw Up Your Brother or He'll Get You In the End'

And we know the flag of love is from above
And we can force you to be free
And we can force you to believe"
And I close my eyes and tighten up my brain
For I once read a book in which the lovers were slain
For they knew not the words of the Free States' refrain
It said:
"I believe in the power of good
I believe in the state of love
I will fight for the right to be right
I will kill for the good of the fight for the right to be right"
And I open my eyes to look around
And I see a child laid slain
On the ground
As a love machine lumbers through desolation rows
Plowing down man, woman, listening to its command
But not hearing anymore
Not hearing anymore
Just the shrieks from the old rich
