Where I work, anyone who can work from home is strongly encouraged to do so.

To the point of being able to take the desktop systems home.

After reviewing my supply list, I realize there are two areas in which I am unprepared - half 'n half for my coffee, and adult beverages.

I'm low on frozen pizza. (We have 3 or so gluten free ones for my wife, however).

And if we get desperate for money, I can start selling Clorox wipes at $1/sheet. My wife loves them so we are well stocked.

And I lugged home 2 good size monitors, a desktop computer, keyboard, mouse, secure card reader, and cables. (We cannot connect our own devices, except for monitors and analog speakers/headsets. Even have to use their Ethernet cables - I took it.) Verified VPN software works, computer got its drive encrypted (takes forever to boot now)

Now I have to clean space for all that stuff.

The Chinese are trying to blame COVID-19 on the US, saying the US released a bioweapon in Wuhan.

I think there is a germ of truth in that - but it wasn't the US that released anything.

Nor do I think it was a deliberate release, but that they were careless. Maybe they were trying some genes useful for a bioweapon - long period of contagiousness before symptoms, and the ability to hide from the immune system - using a harmless virus.

But someone got the virus, went to the wild meat market, and those genes combined with the virus from a pangolin.

BTW, new Chinese dish:

Moo Goo Guy Pangolin

I thought you weren't allowed to work from home. I'm glad they've got you set up.

My company's policy is to allow contractors to WFH after the onboarding/probationary period. But I have everything I need to get set up now. I'll install the VPN software tomorrow.

I knew what clip that was before I clicked.

My ex used to berate me for not taking my coffee black. I was like, why do you care? So annoying.

My wife prefers cream or milk, but the dairy bothers her. She can have her coffee her way. I'll take mine black.

Glitch in the matrix for a while. Getting errors; looked like the database for the site went down for a while

@Syrah about 9mm ammo.

That was one thing that was bothering me as well. Tomorrow, I am getting a reloading set up and start working on refilling my empty casings that I have been accumulating. Savings in the long run will pay for the press and dies. Showed the wife a couple videos of how it works and she's interested in operating it herself. Win-win... She approves and I get someone else to operate the device when I am unable to. :)

i will try a few other dealers in the area tomorrow.

the next county over is very Red (Republican) so I think that if I need to take a drive, they will have some available supplies. I will look into a reloading set up.

I have a work bench in the basement I can clear up for that.

I wonder if the President’s press conference didn’t give people permission to panic a bit.

I went to the neighborhood supermarket after being disappointed at the outdoor sporting goods store.

It was a mad house. The Toilet paper, paper towels, disinfectant wipes and such like were wiped out. There is something a little spooky about seeing empty isles in a supermarket. The meat section was well picked over. Whole brisket was available at what looked like good prices but the pickings for everything else was being shopped hard.

the produce section was well stocked. Northwesties claim to be health conscious but I think that is more talk than reality.  Lots of good pickings for my stir fry tonight. I didn’t look at the pasta or rice isles.

The place was packed with people milling about like they weren’t sure why they were there or like they knew what they wanted. They were kind of dazed and glazed.

I tend to shop for dinner fixings every night before I cook. I wonder how long I will be able to do that. I have plenty of non perishables that I can live on for a long period of time, but I prefer fresh if I can get it.

Governor Inslee has ordered all k-12 schools closed until April 24.

Fun times.
