Life During COVID-19

Heard of a van that is loaded with bodies
Packed up and read to go
Heard of some grave sites, in the middle of nowhere
A place where nobody goes

The sound of coughing, the social distance
I’m getting used to it now

Live in under quarantine, live all alone
I cant go out on the town

Can’t go to party, can’t go to disco
Can’t go fooling around
Can’t go dancing or lovey dovey

Cause that’s not allowed

Took the dogs out because thunderstorms were close.

Barely got them in and there must have been a skunk outside, and the rain started pouring.

Got them out and back in just in time.

Reply to Kosh's Shadow in 1: Very nice!

They're getting really strict around here but I can't say that I blame them.  Pasadena just closed the Rose Bowl loop where scores of people walk or jog.  They've also had to close the hiking trails between north Altadena and the San Gabriel Mountains.  Last weekend we had hundreds of hikers drive into our little town and hike on these trails.  Almost none of them were staying 6 feet apart and some of the trails are only 12" wide, so it's nearly impossible to step aside.  The county and the U.S. Forestry Service have had to shut the trails down but there are some folks still hiking. They just go around the trail heads.

I see the choice as, force people todo their walks around their neighborhoods, running into their neighbors; or let them go out to the great outdoors, where they CAN keep their distance (if they try).

I actually have to go in to work tomorrow, but I have a letter from the Air Force saying the work is essential.

Is your work related to closing the Mine Shaft Gap?

Reply to Occasional Reader in 4: I agree but apparently they weren't trying.  It's interesting that we are asked to stay in our neighborhoods.  I need to get out there and walk but there are so many young parents out there with very young children in my neighborhood now.  Some of the children kind of act like they're afraid of me because I'm over seventy.  Perhaps I should just put some music on and dance, LOL.

Our daughter started out having to go to work every other day and telecommute on the off day but for awhile, anyway, she goes in every third day.

She is a victim advocate supervisor for the D.A.'s office.  They are temporarily not doing jury trials but arraignments, hearings, etc., are still going on. I worry about her.  Sometimes the perps might be in the same elevator.

Question:

Is "going viral" still an appropriate expression?

It's been fifteen days since they began lockdown
Can't wait till they reopen town
You know what I mean?
Oh, you you know what I mean?
Everyone walkin' round with a mask
Think I'll just stay in and nurse my flask
You know what I mean?
Oh, you know what I mean?

I’d say that expression doesn’t stand a Chinaman’s chance of remaining politically correct...

I am not all that keen on the president extending this stand down until April 30.

That would really suck.

I haven’t hoarded enough beer for that.

it is the removing of the bolder blocking the entrance to my plague bunker that will be an issue.
