JCM, I have the next week's morning threads up. You can have after that. And I need a volunteer for pub threads. It is easy. Barely harder than a new post. It just isn't worth my time when no one is here too many days when I can post.

I'd love to help but my life is hell these days. I will at least try to post more often. I'm so grateful that we have this blog, thank you again, Kosh.

The question is, is there a connection between "Little Richard's" stage name and the 1947 song, "Open the Door, Richard"? Little Richard's "Keep a-Knockin' But You Can't Come In" was a hit when he recorded it ten years later, but his name, and the song, seem to relate to that earlier hit.

It appears from his Wikipedia bio that one of the first songs Little Richard performed was Louis Jordan's "Caldonia," and that one of his early mentors gave him the moniker "Little Richard," before Little Richard performed "Keep a-Knockin'." Given the early Jordan influence---Jordan, and "Open the Door, Richard," were big stuff about the time that Little Richard were getting started---I'd bet that his stage name and "Keep a-Knockin'" were both inspired by Jordan's song.
