Cannot comment now. Too busy protesting. Can I help it if I loot a store or eight along the way? Hey, the store window was broken before I got there, so don't blame me. Ha! Cops are everywhere, pffft. Like I said, cannot comment now. The protesting is about to get profitable, um, I mean peaceful, just like last night.

I am honestly at the point that if I came across an Antifa terrorist, I could cheerfully shoot him in the face at close range. I'm glad I will never be in that position because jail looks very unpleasant.

Reply to buzzsawmonkey in 17: I saw someone pointing out that the morning after New York City was subjected to systematic looting, the entire front page of the New York Times was about Donald Trump walking to a church, and how bad that is.

Reply to doppelganglander in 19: Reply to buzzsawmonkey in 20: I hate the barbarians, and I have come to hate their idiotic “progressive“ supporters. Earlier today I walked by a bunch of affluent looking late middle-aged Montgomery county types who are standing on the corner of Wisconsin Avenue waving their “black lives matter“ sign. They were all white by the way, not that that matters. I found myself wishing that the barbarians show up at their homes tonight.

There'll be rioting in the street With the media at our feet And the stores we used to buy at Will be gone And the men who put us on The TV are all wrong They applaud as we burn the city down I tip my hat to black lives matter Take a bow for Antifa blather Smile and grin at the change all around Throw my bricks all around Just like they all say Then I'll get on my knees and pray They'll all get fooled again JUKEBOX

Reply to Kosh's Shadow in 26: I used to be a big Phil Ochs fan, back in high school, and at one point brought in one of his albums that I thought was absolutely IT, to share with my then-English teacher. He listened to as much as he could stand, then proceeded to tell me precisely and at length what an absolutely vile writer of gibberish Ochs was. I was more taken aback than offended (though a little of that, too), and kept on liking Ochs for some few years longer. Recently I've been revisiting some of his work on YouTube, and I find myself nodding in agreement with my old English teacher---and understanding why Ochs never made it the way Dylan did, which was something that gnawed at Ochs like a tapeworm. I believe that Dylan's song "Positively 4th Street" is directed largely at Ochs (4th Street is where Gerde's Folk City was, the venue where both of them played a lot in the early days). I find it hard to listen to a lot of what animated me then; I still find some of the songs from that period moving, and it is odd to feel stirred by Pete Seeger warbling while simultaneously shuddering both at his Stalinism and the knowledge of what, to him, lay behind what he was singing.

Reply to buzzsawmonkey in 27: That song is pure Simon and Garfunkel, and relates to a time when they had album pictures taken in the NY subway, only to notice later that behind them on the wall was "the old familiar imperative" iirci. The record company did not want it on the album cover, even though they said it was what the exact though they wanted to express. I agree with you about Phil Ochs. Another one is Joan Baez. Her love songs are amazing; her political songs amazingly stupid. So I will leave you with her best love song, or song for past love - Jukebox
