Howdy doody.  Comet-viewing conditions don't look good here tonight; it's only partly cloudy, but the "partly'-part happens to be in the N-NW portion of the sky, which is where the action is, or should be.  Dang.

Again: This comet is RACIST.

Comet

It makes your teeth turn green!

Comet

It tastes like gasoline

Comet

It makes you vomit

Come have some Comet, and vomit, today!

/to the tune of the "Col. Bogey March"

Classic summer camp tune, or so I am told... never did the summer camp thing myself.

I went to band camp the summer after 7th grade.  I was the only one from my school who was chosen for the "symphonic" band, which meant I didn't see the folks from my school who went.  My main memory was making a lot of money playing poker.

I went to summer camp two years. Got sick both years and ended up in the hospital. Something about whatever organisms live in the lake. Had a similar problem with a lake nearer home, too, but not as bad.

After that, I didn't go. The camp probably refused.

at least where I grew up, Westchester county, New York, summer camp seemed practically obligatory for Jewish kids. Was it the same with you?

Yes. We'd go to Maine, Camp Kingswood.

But after ending up in the hospital 2 years, I think their insurance company said "Not again!"

I have to post one of my favorite Alan Sherman songs

He was trampling through the warehouse where the drapes of Roth are stored....

I went to an all-girls summer camp in Virginia for two seasons when I was 9-10. It was the classic camp experience - tramping through the woods, making lanyards, playing tennis, swimming. Two of my cousins and their friends were counselors, so I only got bullied a little bit. I won the award for the most improved swimmer and swam in the water ballet.

The new summer camp for "transgenders" is Camp Squattupee.

So, can Rocky Horror still be played now even if the main character and actor weren't really transsexual?

Interesting question.  "Rocky Horror" is in many ways the apotheosis of the drag show---and the kiddies who used to flock to the cult midnight shows were very much into experiencing their budding sexuality by proxy.

My wife and I actually saw it 2 or 3 times at the (now defunct) Hahavahd Squah Theatah. Never dressed in costume.

Never did the costume thing either, but I saw the show a few times---both for the film, and for the audience antics.

It was interesting that the film-cultists would describe someone who hadn't seen the show as "a virgin"; that it was not uncommon for women to dress up as Frankenfurter, the Tim Curry character, but very rare indeed for a male to do it.  There were men who would dress up in drag as female characters, but few would dare to essay the openly-bisexual character.

Based on what I have read online, it takes 10 times seeing RHPS in person to be more than a "virgin"

And yes, at least one time, a woman played Frankenfurter.
