In #2 vxbush said: Some conservatives seem to be super-excited about Elon Must and Vivek Ramaswamy heading up a new Department of Government Efficiency. My first response is it's a contradiction; "government" and "efficiency" really don't go together. Git along little DOGE

I hope it works. Elon and Vivek very smart guys, but this is a task akin to the.Augean Stables, and there would be plenty of ways to do it wrong, even with the best intentions.

If they have been watching government waste for years, then they would know where to simplify, erase, or combine to streamline things. But given that they are coming to this seemingly for the first time, I have a lot of concern about them trying to fix it and instead generating a different issue that causes a lot of problems.

Reply to vxbush in 4: I will say this: Musk working with Trump means advertisers are realizing they need to play nicer with X. They are getting ready to start buying ads again. The concern is that they're doing this as "political leverage", according to the article. Perhaps these men and women don't understand that Musk has some actual standards, based on how he responded to the drops in advertising before. Quoting an important bit in the article: In August, X filed a lawsuit against the Global Alliance for Responsible Media, a coalition of brands and advertising agencies, as well as members such as Unilever, Mars, and CVS Health. It alleged the defendants had “colluded” to boycott X after Musk’s acquisition, limiting consumer choice in breach of antitrust laws. Garm has since shut down, saying the claims “misconstrue its purpose” but “significantly drained its resources and finances.” Yeah, that organization seemed too much like a corporate Journalist to me. I'm really glad it's gone.

Reply to Kosh's Shadow in 1: I can guarantee that all those Soros State AG will sue over the slightest action Elon and Vivek take. The agencies themselves drag things out. Special Interest groups will use and catawaller. Augean Stables is an understatement. That only took diverting a river.l

Reply to JCM in 6: To my concern about Musk and company not being familiar with Government, El Gato Malo has thoughts on this and thinks it's not going to be a problem.
