This article about the D.C. Cardinal Robert McElroy's position on providing support to illegal aliens and the additional information on how much money the Catholic Church makes from grants from the federal government is really concerning. Well, let me be careful here--I'm assuming the Conference of Catholic Bishops is considered to be an organization of the Catholic Church, but given my knowledge of the organization of the church is minimal, I may be assuming too much. The figures, however, are concerning:

Alliance for a Safe Texas founder and president Sheena Rodriguez says, “The Conference of Catholic Bishops lobbied for a total of nearly 30 billion in appropriations of American taxpayer dollars just for fiscal year 2024 related, of course, to addressing the rising cost of immigration in the U.S.” The Biden administration is happy to oblige. NGOs also receive funding. As of 2023, for instance, the NGO Catholic Charities USA reportedly received $1.4 billion from government support, which is millions more than they received in private donations.

I'm honestly surprised that the organizations Americans United for Separation of Church and State or Freedom From Religion didn't have a hissy fit about such money going to the Church.

But why would the charities take this position:

Some Catholic groups even lobbied to end DNA testing, which helps prevent child trafficking, and one group was accused of handing out rape kits to migrants with abortion pills and condoms, in defiance of Church teaching.

Surely they can't be this naive.

How many writers are discussing Trump using Niccolo Machiavelli's mad-man theory in his discussions of Trump's discussions of buying Greenland, changing the Gulf's name, or re-purchasing the Panama Canal? How many of these are serious discussions are which ones are just distractions to keep the opposition off its toes?

Hot Air:

Cultural figures, especially comedians, are musing these days about the peer pressure that forced them to pretend that the Democrats were demigods and the Republicans demons, even if they were a bit skeptical at times.

Um, hate to break it to you, but there has been the soft censorship of peer pressure (and manager/company pressure) for closer to 100 years. It's just been more obvious over the last four years with Biden.

But why are they all coming out now? Why is this the time to release this distraction? It just seems like the entire Media complex is trying to get back into everyone's good graces to make sure there are no upstarts taking over their business and money.

The only real one is the Canal. It is very concerning that Panama has had control since the execrable Rabbit Bait handed over control.

I don't know the extent of China's grip on the Canal Authority. However any ChiCom influence over is concerning.

I've got news for you; multiple drones have been spotted sitting in, and casting votes in, the Senate and the House of Representatives.
