Biden on California via X: "I'm announcing that the federal government will cover 100% of the cost of measures to protect lives and property in Southern California for six months. I've told the Governor and officials to spare no expense and do whatever they need to contain the fires and protect families." Boy, I bet the folks in western North Carolina loved hearing that. So: get hit by a natural disaster and vote Republican, no love for you. Get hit with mostly preventable forest fires that could have been mitigated with proper forest management but wasn't and vote Democrat, get all the money loving you need.

On Thursday evening, in a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court refused his emergency request to halt the sentencing in his "hush money" case. Four justices — Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, and Brett Kavanaugh — voted in Trump's favor, while John Roberts, Amy Coney Barrett, Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, and Ketanji Brown Jackson voted against him. The relevant part of the decision: "First, the alleged evidentiary violations at President-Elect Trump’s state-court trial can be addressed in the ordinary course on appeal. Second, the burden that sentencing will impose on the President-Elect’s responsibilities is relatively insubstantial in light of the trial court’s stated intent to impose a sentence of “unconditional discharge” after a brief virtual hearing. Justice Thomas, Justice Alito, Justice Gorsuch, and Justice Kavanaugh would grant the application." So the decision by the majority is that a regular appeal should be submitted and reviewed after Trump is declared a felon. The question I'm wondering is: is it better to throw everything out now, or to proceed as the justices suggest and then have everything (hopefully) thrown out during the regular appeals review process? Because this sham nonsense is destroying the concept of the rule of law completely.

So, why is it all the headlines talking about Trump's crazy ideas for Greenland don't include all the insanely valuable mineral resources that Greenland has that would reduce our reliance on China as a source for the elements we need? (The article also notes that Bolivia has vast lithium deposits, another pressure point.) Oh, let me guess. People don't need to know those little details. They're just fluff on the real news of Orange Man Insane.

You can invest in a Pelosi-indexed fund, and share the wealth! (Really. I think.)

Did you catch her other comment? "Or 'You couldn't carry my husband out of a fire.' Which my response is, 'He got himself in the wrong place if I have to carry him out of a fire.' " Um, what part of "emergency" did you not get, hon?

I definitely do not want her or any other angry, smart-ass diversity hire anywhere near our house if they think carrying a man out of a burning building is too Gott-danged much trouble.
No, sir.
I want that pizza delivery kid who selflessly goes in three times, and then dives in for a fourth when told he missed someone.
That's the DEI 'tude in one, revolting snark. She's doing him a favor for being in the wrong place by carrying him out.
CARRY YOUR OWNSELF
Blows my mind.

Now that Trump has been "sentenced as a convicted felon," with an effectively-empty sentence, it would be hilarious, in light of his stunts at McDonald's and on the garbage truck, to give his next press conference in one of those old-time black-and-white-striped prison uniforms, with a ball-and-chain where the "ball" was a helium balloon.

Reply to vxbush in 2: I'm willing to bet that the Sorors AGs, and Gov. like WA own Sideshow Bob will now bring suits against Trump EOs and other actions based on the concept a "convicted felon" can't sign bills and create policy.
