I continue to see friends who lean left (some heavily) who are completely accepting what the MSM says about Kilmar Abrego Garcia and not listening at all to any news from the other media that point out the deportation orders that existed for the man. It demonstrates too clearly the political divide in this country that for some ( most?), the facts don't matter; only the source matters.

Harvard isn't just about to lose money: Harvard University has been in the news plenty this week, as the Trump administration had decided it was done with the university not complying and is thus freezing funds. President Donald Trump himself has even posted over social media that Harvard should lose its tax status. On Wednesday night, Secretary Kristi Noem of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced a cancelation of $2.7 million in grants to the institution. The announcement came via a press release shared to the DHS website. Such an announcement began in part by declaring that Harvard is "unfit to be entrusted with taxpayer dollars." That's not all, though, as the university could face even more consequences. "The Secretary also wrote a scathing letter demanding detailed records on Harvard’s foreign student visa holders’ illegal and violent activities by April 30, 2025, or face immediate loss of Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) certification," the press release continued.
Is it time for Harvard to go the way of Bob Jones University?

From this article about how more Democrats want the party to fight harder rather than consider waiting to see what happens with tariffs comes this news I missed elsewhere: David Hogg, a controversial Democratic National Committee vice chair, is pledging to upend Democratic primaries by funding candidates who will challenge “ineffective, asleep-at-the-wheel” Democrats. The move puts Hogg, the now 25-year-old who first gained national stature as an outspoken survivor of the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, on a collision course with his own party and some Democratic House members.
He wants to spend $20 billion on this, even while he contacts people on the Democrat fundraising list to get donations to his PAC instead (Archive page). I'm not sure this is going to work out so well.

Reply to vxbush in 1: I missed the Supreme Court weighing in on this: And the United States Supreme Court ruled unanimously that the President of the United States and the Secretary of State could not be compelled to forcibly retrieve this citizen of El Salvador, who is currently locked up in a maximum security prison in his home country due to his MS-13 membership. Will that be enough to convince people? I don't think so.

Did you know back in 2008 that then major Richard Daley sold every parking meter to a private consortium for $1.15 billion? Did you know this deals lets them collect all the parking fee for 75 years, of which there are still 58 years on the contract? And it appears that partners in Morgan Stanley are the ones who set this up and are reaping the benefits.

Reply to vxbush in 4: The court is biased! The court is taken over by conservatives! The court isn't diverse enough. I actually think the court does lack diversity.... they all are from Harvard or Yale.

Reply to vxbush in 5: Mao extensively used "sleeper cells" in his revolution. He recruit and send his people in an air to build up a cadre for when the time came rise up in support of the revolution. We have naturalized Chinese immigrants in our military conducting espionage, China buying land, Chinese police stations in the US. How many Chinese immigrants are working in critical industries? China is planning and preparing for conflict with the US. Why wouldn't they do everything they could to infiltrate key areas?
