Today, Massachusetts and Maine celebrate Patriots' Day, to commemorate the shot heard 'round the world, at the bridge that is this blog's namesake. A toast to Minutemen! (Pun intended)

I saw your note about making this thread, so I deleted JCM's extra Monday thread. You're welcome.

Big news today. (or at least, I assume it was today--I just saw it) is that Pope Francis has passed away.

How important is this issue of federal judges issuing nationwide injunctions? Serious enough that the Supreme Court is going to hear the case on May 15--when they never hear cases, ever. That would seem to suggest the court is seeing a problem with the district judges as well.

It was speculation before, but Van Hollen confirmed US taxpayers paid for his little trip to El Salvador.

There is nothing in the laws about a district judge having that authority. And the precedent almost unheard of until now.

May the next pope actually be Catholic.

The last one made me wonder if the bears that live here would ask to use our toilets.

I heartily concur with that sentiment, even though I have no way of knowing now Catholic Francis actually was.

So my drivers license expires the end of next month.

The first available appointment? End of June.

The DOL has an email for the directors office. My email.

My license expires at the end of May.

First available appointment to renew is June 20th.

Why is your office forcing me to drive a month with an expired license?

I hope I do get an ticket.

Then I can put you on the stand and ask why you forced me to drive on an expired license.

Looking forward to meeting you in court.

I also illegally register my car outside the light rail taxing district, since they used an illegal taxing method. Nobody has every been cited for this violation since they know we would fight the ticket and demand answers in court to how they are using an illegal tax method.

WA has gotten so corrupt and incompetent.

The RMV in Massachusetts is bad, but not that bad, and AAA has a deal where they can renew drivers licences. That's what I did last time, under Covid, when the RMV was NOT renewing licenses, but allowed drivers to use expired ones. And AAA could get me a Real ID one when the Registry couldn't.

I don't think the Illinois DMVs have anything like this set up, but maybe they do in Chicago. I know several people in my area go to a nearby smaller city because the customer service is so superior to what we have locally.
