Remember the whining about federal government credit cards last month (or was it two months ago?) where people swore up and down that DOGE was going to hamstring government?

I didn't know that buying stuff at "bars, lounges, discos, nightclubs, and taverns" were key work of the federal government. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised. This is mostly the DOD, but I have no doubt that those outside the military were also imbibing copiously. Notice some of the items in the list:

  • Cruise lines
  • Lotteries
  • Wigs and toupees
  • Weight loss programs
  • Jewelry
  • Horoscopes and fortune telling
  • Boat purchases
  • Campers
  • Golf
  • Country club memberships
  • Amusement parks
  • Bail bonds

CERN gears up to ship antimatter across Europe

...that is, until someone figures out how to turn off the magnets and the refrigeration, and then a bit too much energy will be released.

It was mentioned in the article, but simply as an example of something that could have been listed but wasn't--and whether taxpayers should really be the ones paying for such things.

Somehow, I would rather expect it to be included but not mentioned to minimize the outrage. But that's a guess.
