The B-2s don't need to stage they go to Iran and back to Whitman. They've done similar missions in the past. Openly moving them to Guam. There is also Diego Gracia in play. Moving B-2 publically is a message to Iran.
The B-2s can just hit the nuke facilities bunker without warning. Iran's air defenses have been attrited to the point of uselessness. The GBU-57 is to my understanding the only thing than can reach the nuke bunker. The B-2 is the only thing that can deliver it. The B-1 and B-52 can handle the weight. It the size of the bomb bays that prevent them from hauling the thing.

Reply to JCM in 1: At this point, we wouldn't need to use a stealth bomber, as Israel achieved air DOMINANCE over Iran. But that's the aircraft that can carry the bomb. As for the F-35, Israel has shown its value.

Reply to Kosh's Shadow in 2: IMAO even more important is the electronic warfare aspect. Iran has some of the best equipment that they can get from Russia and China. Combine that the stealth of the F-35 and it wasn't even a fight. Iran now has a choice, agree to terms... or the GBU-57 will ensure terms favorable to Israel and the US. Russian and China both are recalculating their options in the face of the abject failure of Iranian air defenses.

What I am seeing. 6 B-2 with one GBU-57 each, not the ones flying to Guam, they flew into Iran from the West. 30 plus Tomahawks from an SSGN.
