City Official in LA County Calls for Street Gangs to Rise Up Against ICE Q: can you say she created this video and asked the street gangs to attack ICE in her role as vice mayor if she did this on X? The article states that the FBI visited her home and they are apparently investigating her, but it isn't clear if they are investigating her as a simply a citizen or as a government official.

Reply to Occasional Reader in 7: I used to listen to Levin now and then, a long time ago. His top-of-the-lungs outrage got very tiresome very quickly, and he had none of the instinct for le mot juste that made Mark Steyn a pleasure to listen to. I'm glad Levin is around to give air and airtime to a point of view, but I do wish that that point of view had a more listenable spokesperson.

In #7 Occasional Reader said: Mark Steyn used to be a self-declared “happy warrior“. These days, his perpetual doom and gloom is getting a little tiresome, in my opinion. It sounds like he's tired of the same old, same old of politics and war. And I can appreciate that. 3 years of Ukraine and being no closer to a resolution makes for exhaustion.

I cannot understand how Mamdani did so well in the primary. Cuomo, repulsive though he is, was clearly the least-worst candidate. It is also shocking that city councilmember Shahana Hanif, who is a real soul-sister to Mamdani, not only won against her primary opponent, but has no Republican candidate opposing her in the general election. The "Republican Party" in NYC would have to mightily improve in order to begin to qualify as a sick joke.

Reply to buzzsawmonkey in 11: I think you need to start thinking about getting out of New Yorkistan. It will be bad enough for Jews shortly after that jerk becomes mayor (G-d forbid), and then, welcome to Caracas. It will make the old movies that made NYC look bad look good.

Reply to Kosh's Shadow in 12: The wife and I are pivoting sadly towards that conclusion. The question is, where? Returning to our city of origin, or its suburbs, is a "no"; the cities/states surrounding NYC are little better if at all. Suggestions, with reasons, would be welcome.

Reply to buzzsawmonkey in 15: Unless you like being away from a city, I don't have suggestions. I prefer deer, squirrels, chipmunks, and even the occasional bear, to most people. They basically leave us alone. Although our next-door neighbors are nice. Our dogs and their dog bark at each other, and no one minds.
