JCM keeps serving up lovely breakfasts, and I am very thankful.

Big news this morning:

RFK Jr. Axes ALL Funding For Bill Gates’ Global ‘Vaccine Alliance’

The article quotes the Washington Post:

The United States will halt its contributions to Gavi, the global alliance that works to expand access to vaccines for children in some of the world’s poorest countries, said Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Wednesday — a move that public health experts said would have deadly consequences.

Kennedy, who has a history of spreading vaccine misinformation [sigh--VX], announced the decision in video remarks made to a Gavi summit in Brussels, during which he accused the group of neglecting “the key issue of vaccine safety.”…

In his remarks, Kennedy cited a study linking the DTP vaccine — for diphtheria,a highly contagious bacterial infection that kills 5 to 10 percent of those affected, as well as tetanus and pertussis — to increased child mortality. Kennedy also said Gavi should “consider the best science available,” and “re-earn the public trust."

What did said study say?

In the 1980s, the suburb Bandim in the capital of Guinea-Bissau was followed with demographic surveillance and tri-monthly weighing sessions for children under 3  years of age. From June 1981, routine vaccinations were offered at the weighing sessions. We calculated mortality hazard ratio (HR) for DTP-vaccinated and DTP-unvaccinated children aged 6–35 months…

Though lower mortality compared with not being DTP-vaccinated was… expected, DTP vaccination was associated with a non-significant trend in the opposite direction… .

Although having better nutritional status and being protected against three infections, 6–35 months old DTP-vaccinated children tended to have higher mortality than DTP-unvaccinated children. All studies of the introduction of DTP have found increased overall mortality.

No causal link was listed, so this could be an anomaly, but there is no interest in doing the proper studies to compare vaxxed versus untaxed patients on ethical grounds. I totally understand that, but if we have people who are already members of each study group, how is it unethical to simply follow their health and track the results?

But GAVI has some serious issues besides Gates and his ego:

The Geneva-based COVAX was the vaccine pillar of the Access to COVID-19 Tools Accelerator (ACT-A). By the end of September 2021, COVAX had delivered over 319 million vaccines, which was about 16% of its original end-of-year goal of two billion doses. When African leaders wanted to buy COVID-19 vaccines at the peak of the pandemic, vaccine hoarding by HICs relegated African countries to the uncertainties of donations. COVAX ultimately failed to achieve the goal of ensuring that people in LMICs had timely and equitable access to vaccines against COVID-19. Gavi, the vaccine alliance that purchased COVID-19 vaccines in the ACT-A construct, has not publicly and fully addressed questions about a financial imbroglio arising from its deals with pharmaceutical companies for shots it no longer needs.

Accountable leadership would embrace the facts of COVAX’s failure, learn from them and commit to doing demonstrably better. But the Gavi leadership did the opposite and brazenly claimed that it had developed ‘a blueprint of how to deliver vaccines at scale in an emergency to low-income countries’. That detachment from reality compounded a blunder by WHO’s Special Envoy for the ACT-A, who claimed not to understand why some stakeholders might feel excluded from a review of ACT-A... .

And it also seems odd that back in 2016 Saudi Arabia gave money to GAVI that was then used in....Yemen.

I can't easily find a list of all the issues with GAVI because Google just wants to float up the positive articles, but I've heard of issues with GAVI for many years. I'm rather glad RFK Jr. did this.

More face saving from Khamenei

"It [the U.S.] entered the war to save it [Israel], but it did not achieve anything from this war. They attacked our nuclear facilities, but they were unable to do anything important," he said.

Khamenei claimed President Trump"exaggerated" the results of the U.S. strikes on Iran. "They could not do anything, they could not achieve their goal, and they are exaggerating to cover up the truth," he said.

He added that Iran "dealt America a hand slap in the face" by attacking one of the U.S. bases in the region and claimed that the Trump administration tried to minimize the damages caused.

At least he finally showed up. Well, sort of. The tape was prerecorded, and dropped yesterday, so who knows when it was actually filmed?

That's good news! My hope in all that is that we return all kinds of manufacturing to the US. The jogs is only part of it. We need to have the industrial base, the tooling and especially the skills maintained in the country. If we lose all this ability and then get cut off from offshore suppliers, it gets ugly fast.

There's a related article about manufacturing that was posted on PJ Media about AI use in manufacturing. Short on specifics, but indicates good use of AI in that realm. The source article gives more details

As always, the question is: do we have good data on what is going on? That would be my mantra about just about everything.

That's a key question. Everything is online, and subject to manipulation. Used to be I'd head to a library and dig out the relevant journal and read or copy the stuff. AI photos and videos are just the tip of the iceberg, news media for the most part is totally unreliable. I've been having discussions with my boys and their friends about how to ferret out the facts and track down sources.

From your 1st post, the handling of COVID severely muddied the vaccine waters, the traditional sources like CDC and NIH are no longer credible.

It goes back the article we discussed yesterday. Losing the faculty to do basic stuff, understand the fundamentals.

Senate parliamentarian’s no-go list: 15 pieces struck from Trump’s megabill

Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough’s decision on Thursday to reject key Medicaid cuts in the bill enraged hard-line Republicans, who called on Senate leaders to overrule or fire the longtime Senate referee.

How does an un-elected individual have this much power over the legislative process. MacDonough was appointed by, Harry Reid.

Interesting happenings with the Air India 787 crash.

Boeing 787 Dreamliner Crash: India Shuts Door On UN Aviation Expert Probing Plane Accident

What Happened: Citing two anonymous sources familiar with the matter, Reuters reported on Friday that the ICAO, or International Civil Aviation Organization, a specialized agency of the UN, asked India to give its investigator, who was in the country, observer status. However, the country denied the request.

Air India flies into Europe and other ICAO member countries, having an ICAO observer in an investigation is routine. This provides assurance to the various agencies responsible for air safety that the investigation was thorough and proper.

Another curious thing I'm observing is the handling of the "black boxes". The 787 has a combine Flight Data and Cockpit Voice Recorders. It is called and Enhanced Airborne Flight Recorder (EAFR). Those were recovered two weeks again and analysis has just begun in India. That I believe is India not willing to lose face and admit they lack the technology to read out the data. In virtually all significant accidents the recorders get sent to the country of manufacture because they have the equipment on hand. If India had sent the box to the NTSB immediately the data would already be in hand for analysis.
