MIcrosoft wants Windows 2030 to be crap full of AI and use a voice interface.

1 - the obvious problem covered in Dilbert strip, in which one character announces he has a voice interface, so another walks by and speaks a command to delete all files

2 - "Open the pod bay design, please" - "Sorry, Dave, I cannot do that"

And that doesn't even address whether the personal speaking is (a) coherent, (b) able to actually describe what it is they want to do.

How many liberals saw this story in the NYT? From PJMedia

A new report from—if you can believe it—the New York Times has thrown cold water on that absurd little storyline. According to their reporting, the roots of this [Bolton security] investigation don’t trace back to Trump at all. In fact, the probe gained traction under the Biden administration—an inconvenient truth that blows up the liberal media’s theory of political retribution.

An excellent summary of the Democrats' response to the Catholic School shooting:

There were many more examples, but let me explain something to these grotesque ghouls. Christians pray because they actually believe in the power and importance of prayer. To say it's "not enough" is to attack the very core of their religion, which is the knowledge that God is enough, no matter what evil manifests in the world. To call prayer a "lie" is to spit in the face of the Christians who were murdered by this mentally ill "transgender" killer.

It is infuriating that the broader left feels so comfortable demeaning Christians, even when they are the target of violent attacks. All the while, they try to claim some moral high ground by insisting that yet another ineffective law will stop deranged people from doing deranged things. Never do they acknowledge the core issue, though. In fact, Frey did the opposite, rushing to defend the mentally ill "trans community" as righteous above the Christian community, the latter of which was an afterthought in his commentary.

...

Imagine taking a steaming dump on the deeply held religious beliefs of the people who were murdered, trashing prayer as meaningless, and then turning around and promoting the "trans community" that produced this murderous psychopath as the real victims. Saying that behavior is beyond the pale doesn't begin to describe the disgusting insanity of it all.

I find this noteworthy, just because a local university is seeing similar issues: Nearly a Quarter of Public School Kids Are Still Chronically Absent From School

Hmmmm......

Democrat Policies Are so Unpopular That a Dark Money Group is Paying Progressive Influencers $8K a Month to Push Them

It might be that....or it might be that money greases a lot of wheels.

I have yet to see anything produced by AI that would be "good to go". Especially in critical or expensive projects. A essay, a picture, a video is one thing. The design of a system, code output to control that system, still takes a human review and test. That review takes as much time as the person doing it from scratch. That will of course improve over time.

Trump administration denies PA’s Abbas visa to attend UN General Assembly

A Friday State Department release titled "Trump administration reaffirms commitment to not reward terrorism and revokes visas of Palestinian officials ahead of UNGA" said that the US is denying and revoking visas from members of the Palestine Liberation Organization and the PA ahead of the United Nations General Assembly meeting in September.

“The Trump administration has been clear: it is in our national security interests to hold the PLO and PA accountable for not complying with their commitments, and for undermining the prospects for peace,” the release noted.

I guess it would have been too much to let Abbas come, then arrest him for war crimes and terrorism.

Now if we can just get rid of the UN.

Regarding that story out of Scotland about the hatchet/knife lass:

Perhaps that same Scottish city could instead build a detention facility for illegal immigrants. Instead of “Alligator Alcatraz”, they could call it “Crocodile Dundee”.

Border Patrol agents arrest firefighters during investigation at Bear Gulch Fire

HOODSPORT, Wash. (KOMO) — Two members of a firefighting crew at the Bear Gulch Fire in Mason County were arrested by Border Patrol agents on Wednesday as part of an ongoing investigation into two government contractors working at the fire, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) confirmed.

According to CBP, the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service requested the agency's help to terminate the firms working at the fire.

Federal agents were verifying the identities of the members of the wildland firefighter crew when it was discovered that two individuals were illegally present in the U.S., and one had a prior order of removal, according to CBP officials.

Of course this has WA elected officiousness in a twitter.

U.S. Sen. Patty Murray, who said the immigration policy of the Trump administration is "fundamentally sick."

Washington Gov. Bob Ferguson also spoke out against what he described as Trump's "cruel immigration policies."

Sideshow Bob, who is cosplaying as Gov. is vocal in opposition to Trump and has been for a decade, filing 64 lawsuits against Trump in his first term. I think this is a message to Sen. Dimbulb and Sideshow that the Federal Government CAN and WILL enforce immigration law in WA.

Jerome Powell Allows Lisa Cook to Have Access to Her Office and Electronics Despite President Trump Ordering Her Firing

So could this be grounds to fire Powell, and if so, how close to 100% is the likelihood he'll file a lawsuit? I'm not seeing an offramp here.
