Government shuts down after Congress deadlocks on spending deal

An earlier attempt by Senate Republicans to pass a short-term extension of fiscal year (FY) 2025 government funding levels, called a continuing resolution (CR), was sunk by Democrats who were furious about being sidelined in shutdown negotiations.

Last budget from Congress was 2007.

The budget act of 1974 REQUIRES a budget.

A CR does not meet the requirements of a budget It is merely the continuation of the previous..

If Congress won't do their job. Don't pay them.

Here's a silly question. Is there a law on the books that say government benefits must only go to citizens? If not, why is there not such a law?

(Yes, I know why, but still feel like it needs to be said.)

Oklahoma Gov. Stitt, ICE bust 120 illegal immigrants in highway crackdown, slams Biden border failures

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol, working with ICE agents, arrested 120 illegal immigrants during an operation at a port of entry near the Texas border.

The plan, dubbed Operation Guardian, was a comprehensive deportation effort launched by Gov. Kevin Stitt in coordination with Oklahoma’s Department of Public Safety.

The sting took place along Interstate 40, where officials found most offenders with unverifiable licenses behind the wheels of 80,000-pound 18-wheelers.

1996 Welfare reform act barred illegal aliens from receiving benefits.

1998 USDA Rescinded the plain letter of the 1998 law. Exception include K-12 education and emergency medical care.

It's a mess to say the least.

Medicaid is not supposed to go to illegals, but some states pay anyway, and the Federal government still pays part of it. Should cut out Medicaid subsidies to states that spend the money illegally.

The way around is Emergency Medical Treatment & Labor Act (EMTALA). The fun part is there is no reimbursement mechanism under the law for EMTALA. So what happens is Hospitals just do the math and spread the costs of EMTALA across insurance and medicare patients.

Quick search show 6-10 of hospital bills are for EMTALA. A hidden tax.

One reason why the case about birthright citizenship is so important, and the phrase "under the jurisdiction thereof".

I would also point to the first line of the Consitution. "We The People OF the United States." Illegals are not OF.

Geographic location is not of. Agreeing, consenting to the structure of the nation and laws is becoming of.

Fair enough.

I was just thinking of one gun related thread yesterday in particular in which he was repeatedly trying to needle me; and essentially everybody on the thread was ignoring him. From the tone of his posts you could see he was getting more and more frantic for attention.
