Not a bad video, but kind of basic in most respects, and he’s not entirely correct about there being no point to cocking a pistol prior to getting into a gunfight. It depends on the pistol and on the carry method of the shooter.

Mayoral front-runner Zohran Mamdani once made a vile, conspiracy-tinged statement tying the NYPD and the Israeli military, according to a shocking video that resurfaced Tuesday. “We have to make clear that when the boot of the NYPD is on your neck, it’s been laced by the IDF,” the Queens assemblyman said, referring to the Israel Defense Forces. Mamdani made the comparison during the 2023 Democratic Socialists of America’s national convention, where he was the keynote speaker.

So I’ve been watching Peaky Blinders, and I’d rate it as “very high-quality trashy TV”.

The series does get into the history and politics of the period (UK 1919-1930s), and does get some things right, but then every once in a while commits an absolute howler, like the one I saw in the episode I watched last night..

The character “Alfie Solomons” (brilliantly played by Tom Hardy) who serve$ with the British Army in World War I, mentions that opera singing reminds him of “the cries that Italian soldiers made when my bayonet was in them.”

Alfie, why were you bayoneting Italian soldiers in World War One?!

Come on, guys.

When I was a kid some article said how in Westerns they would shoot so many bullets they'd be mining lead for years.

6-shooters seemed to hold 6000 rounds.

BTW, I did get to handle an 1890's Colt revolver. Not fire it (building did not have a firing range) but handle it. Single action, of course.

However, rule was no pictures where this was.

Actually doing a “mag dump” with a full auto weapon will definitely disabuse one of the Hollywood “infinity magazine” notion.  It’s lots of fun… and it’s over in 3 seconds.  (Yes, yes, “that’s what SHE said”…)
