Been crazy at work.. sorry about the lack of a thread.

A small chip green LED, smaller than a black been bigger than a grain of rice was suddenly discontinued. The ramifications of that is that in July production of the F-35 would stop. How you ask? Part of my teams job is to close watch supply chains and plan for obsolescence. A sudden halt to production is problematic at best. LEDs are next level madness. Cockpit lighting is difficult, military cockpit lighting is an order of magnitude harder. Any light has to be both visible, but also visible in night vision goggles, without blowing out the goggles with excess light. Goggles are very frequency sensitive.

Finding a optically acceptable is the first problem. The follow-on problem was the one we found is a different size. This required a circuit board re-design. The project is 20 years old so software systems had changed, lax protocols here meant pieces of the project were missing.

Two weeks of mad scramble to get everything together and done. That was my part.  Now other folks have weeks of testing to make sure the performance of the cockpit display matches the performance of the previous version. And we can continue to ship.

Well, you might have a winner there. But AI is going to make automated security/theft/stealing so easy, anyone who doesn't prepare for that deserves what they get. I speak from experience.
