J.B. Pritzker, on Monday: "Trump started it! He was mean first and yelling at people who had the right to protest him during his campaign in 2016!" Victoria Taft: Um, no, you guys started it first, and we have the video evidence from James O'Keefe. Dems honestly seem so stupid. Pritzker is never going to make it nationally.

I will fight this decision as long as I can: Just read C.S. Lewis' book That Hideous Strength to understand that calling any organization N.I.C.E. is a very bad idea because of even more parallels the stupid people will make to the organization within the book. If you need a summary of why, just do a Google AI search of "AI summary of the organize NICE in Lewis' That Hideous Strength". It will tell you enough.

Got some spam from "Mr. FederalBureau" asking for money to handle some kind of investigation. Yet the only contact method in it would be to reply to a gmail address - not the address it pretended to be from. And it seems to come from Indonesia, based on the country code in the message id. It seems like the forms to report this to the feds are set up for when you are actually scammed, not when you report it.

Wow. Did they do that to subvert the story that he is alive as much at Monty Python's parrot?

Reply to vxbush in 1: (not related to Pritzker....) Start with reference to Jonah Goldberg's book, Liberal Fascism.
America has "Gramsci-ed" itself into a cultural hegemony which is fascist-ly controllable. Most of the "ultra-Conservative" blogs are as full of it as the traditional Progressive Left, and they were created two and one decades ago as "influence points". It'd come to be understood that many Americans could be easily swayed by playing to their emotions. (That was what the Alinsky Machine did in creating and running the Obama campaign.) That was also the birthpoint of social media (which this blog is essentially part of.) Today's America - left, right and center - is operating on "feelings". That's precisely why someone like The Donald can use social media to ascend into the Presidency. Today's America is nothing like we were before Woodstock and Luckenbach barreled onto the cultural scene. The Donald is behavioral "Sixties", and so is the MAGA Movement. The preaching of "God uses sinful men" means the Access Hollywood videotape is now ultra-conservative. To those who believe that ... anyone criticizing Trump is heathen.

Reply to preBoomer-Marinebrat in 10: BTW, Goldberg's Liberal Fascism is a VERY interesting book. The first chapter's on Mussolini. The second, Hitler. The third, Woodrow Wilson, whose writings both Mussolini and Hitler publicly cited as having been very helpful.

Reply to preBoomer-Marinebrat in 10: And if you wonder how th' hell the Right can "Gramsci" anything ... a local used-book store has copies (excellent condition) of all three volumes of Antonio Gramsci's Prison Notebooks. $70 + tax. I don't think any of you will want to get that far into the research. You'd rather eyeball truth-tellers like PJMedia and JihadWatch.

Reply to preBoomer-Marinebrat in 12: You misunderstand. It's not that I disagree with your assertions at all. It's that I literally don't have time to do anything but comment on it because of my responsibilities at home and at work. The bigger question would be, how do we get out of this mess? Do you have any prescriptive measures that we can follow? Because while many agree with the Gramscian realities, few have told us how to get out of it. Rescinding the amendment that had the senators voted in by the electorate rather than selected by the states might help, but that's one of the few things I'm aware of to give the states their powers back.

Reply to vxbush in 13: The problem is cultural. NOT political. NOT legislative.
The late Andrew Breitbart said it. ... Culture leads politics. As culture changes, politics must inexorably follow. ... (That's where Gramsci comes in. Controlling the everyday culture is gaining the hegemony which will allow the Revolution to suceed.)
There's no solution, except by individuals maturing, then collectively maturing as a community, then maturing more and more, coming closer as they do. That takes time and lots of good parenting, over and over again. Today's Sixties-originating street culture is opposed to that. Everything is emotion-rooted. Everything is ME! Everything is NOW! "The Donald" is utterly "Sixties". That's why he's in the White House. The men want to "be like him" and the women want to "be with him". He's "utterly WOW!"

Reply to vxbush in 13: I have a friend here who's my age (Silent Generation). She told me several years ago, she had a 14 year-old grandson who's "incapable" (her word) of carrying on an ordinary conversation with another person. Take him away from his smartphone and he flies into a fit. Where does that take us culturally? Has it anything to do with how Senators are seated in Congress? Of course not. But which issue will have the greater effect upon American history? Does it mean, the Zuckerbergs are primarily at fault? ... Or did it start decades ago, when parents came to consider the TV as the perfect babysitter? Culture.

Reply to Kosh's Shadow in 16: All of it's dangerous, but "children" who've grown up with it don't realize any of that. They like the way it makes them feel.
My father's America is gone and probably won't come back. Britain is far ahead of us. Near-utterly destroyed. If you can get a copy, watch the Simon Schama/BBC video series "A History of Britain". It ends with Churchill and Orwell. Get to that point, look back at the entire span, then look at where everyday society is at across the pond. America's headed in that direction, and the present day "Conservative" movement is the metaphorical Piper, leading the way through the garden.

Reply to preBoomer-Marinebrat in 17: There are a lot of studies showing antisocial media messes up childhood development. As for Britistan, the US still has a chance to avoid it. Europe seems doomed - Frankistan, Spain will go back to Andalusia, Netherstan, Deutchistan,,, The US still has a chance.

Reply to Kosh's Shadow in 18: It's hardly just ****stan that I'm writing about. I understand extremely well what you mean, but that's just part of Britain's problem - 10% or less. Research the Council House Culture (which began a century ago under the Tory PMs Disraeli and Chamberlain.) Research homosexuality's stark impunity (the concealment of the 1980s "Marconi Murders", and the title song of the Black Watch's 1983 "Sands of Time" album.) The entire country is "south of Market" San Francisco, lacking only the "Up Your Alley" street fairs. Glance at the content of character of both Boris Johnson and the present PM, neither of whom needed the religious fakery of a MAGA Movement to get into #10. (Sadiq Khan is as much "Old Labour" communism as a Muzzie.)
Research the "suicide" of Dr. David Kelly, and the "involvement" of Thames Valley Police in the "investigation". (They were also "involved" in the Marconi Murder "investigations".)
BBC & Times headlines this AM said supermarket security is now forbidden to stop shoplifters, because it might hurt those individuals' feelings. Glance at what was done to the Balen Report. Antonio Gramsci is laughing in his grave.

Reply to preBoomer-Marinebrat in 19: Oh ... I forgot ... Britain no longer has a manufacturing base. An argument has been made that the only thing keeping the economy afloat is the inflow of overseas "black money" -- untaxed monies, illegally sent out of Commonwealth countries, buying property in Britain and hiding identities behind layers of shell company accounts. (If you want to vomit, research the Emir of Dubai, who's the furthest thing from a jihadi.)
Research an American company named "International Signal & Control", Lancaster, Pennsylvania. It was on the London stock market, not New York's. 90% of its finances were complete fakery, but London let it slip past. ---- Ferranti Ltd was destroyed, but The City couldn't afford to give a damn. Research a chap named Phil Shiner, and another named Richard Hermer (aka 'Lord Hermer'). Shiner actually managed to do it so stupidly that he finally got himself disbarred.
