Reply to Kosh's Shadow in 1: So did everybody and his brother's dog. Dad was stationed Worcester for a few years just before the Kingston Trio recorded that song. I recall having heard that song back then, before the Trio did it.

Reply to preBoomer-Marinebrat in 2: There are a lot fewer military facilities now. Nothing in Worcester; Fort Devens (about 30 miles north of Worcester) closed over 20 years ago, although there is sill some activity at South Base (or is it South Post?)

I would have titled this article, "The Connection between Jon Ossoff and the SPLC." Granted, Chris Queen is from Georgia and follows politics there closely, but this would be a great time for the GOP to actually bring this up nationwide.

Dawkins says he is an atheist and sees no purpose in a God. But he feels that AI is conscious. That doesn't exactly measure up to the scientific method that Dawkins puts so much faith into (yes, that word choice was intentional).

In #4 vxbush said: Have there been any public stories on this besides this one? There've been many, dating back 25 years. Research the history of the Climatic Research Unit at the UK's University of East Anglia. An Aussie chap named Tom Wigley took control of it in 1978, after the founder, Hubert Lamb, retired. Lamb had been a serious researcher. Wigley was ideologically-fixated and known for flinging ad hominem attacks at anyone who disagreed. The email scandal (late-1990s, IIRC) ripped the genitals off "global warming", but then it was merely renamed "climate change" and carried on as if nothing had happened. 1993, Wigley went to the National Center for Atmospheric Research in the People's Republic of Boulder, Colorado. ... Research the history of that too. Check out the website wattsupwiththat.com. It's been around since 2006.
Also check out the archives of the UK website dailysceptic.org. They regularly stomp the UK's MET for publishing fake temperature measurements.

Reply to vxbush in 12: Yes, I saw that yesterday, but if I might be able to point out ... it's been proven a scam, long before this. The press - Left and Right - is click-baiting their readerships (plural). Forgive me for posting another "screed".

For the longest time I have had a folder called "Democrat Power Plays" that stored all sorts of stories related to how Democrats pushed their control over policies and politics that weren't necessary. Now, I'm having to create a similar folder for Republican. Maybe it's just more obvious to me now, or maybe the justification for the Republican maneuvers are not being expressed publicly to show how they are rooted in law and good governance, but for now such things are ending up in a folder that calls out the power struggle.

Reply to vxbush in 14:
I agree. You're exactly right.
I suggest looking broader - beyond politics - to shifts in culture over the past several decades. Hold a lit match to a frog and he'll leap out of his skin getting away from it. But put him in a pot of water on a stove, then slowly turn on burner, and you can cook him, without him becoming aware of it. I was in junior high when the rock 'n roll era started. A decade later, having been raised conservatively, and looking back, I became aware of the changes which preceded "The Sixties". The "Sixties" are VERRRRY much with us today. Obama and Trump and Harris and Hegseth. Television and movies. The Web. Social media. All of it increasingly driven by emotion. --- The individual is "justified" by the nature of his/her feelings. --- The Web is now where many go to sooth themselves amidst those emotions. Today's MAGA Republican Party has learned how "The Sixties" work. How to cook their frogs.

When America is "Great Again" ... What will it be? What will it look like? How will we behave? How will we think? How will we treat each other?
Has anyone in the Movement surrounding Donald Trump ("The Donald") defined that? Described it? The Wilsonian fascists certainly didn't. During the Obama era, the Alinsky-ites shifted from "Prairie Fire" to cooking the frogs with free stuff. Neither preached a specific future. Neither had the brains or the spine to admit that no Marxist government has survived as such, that all have turned fascist, putting their thumb on the proletarian heads of the boiling frogs. An argument can be made that the MAGA Movement shows signs of being fascist.

And I close my eyes and tighten up my brain For I once read a book in which the lovers were slain For they knew not the words of the Free States' refrain It said: "I believe in the power of good I believe in the state of love I will fight for the right to be right I will kill for the good of the fight for the right to be right" And I open my eyes to look around And I see a child laid slain On the ground As a love machine lumbers through desolation rows Plowing down man, woman, listening to its command But not hearing anymore Not hearing anymore Just the shrieks from the old rich

Reply to Kosh's Shadow in 17: And these lines sound like they are about Obama, but the song is older
"We had a friend, a talking man Who spoke of many powers that he had Not of the best of men, but ours We used him We let him use his powers We let him fill our needs Now we are strong
