This makes me wonder if the current SpaceX satellites have additional abilities that can be turned on that we aren't aware of (yet). Pure speculation, but interesting.

It's likely just datalink for the Golden Dome. Using the Starlink inter satellite links, putting Golden Dome satellite into that network mesh. It would make for a more robust data system. Instead of have only a few data link satellites, where you could cripple the system by taking out a single node. Now the network mesh has thousands of nodes and taking out a single satellite has zero net impact on the network.
