Yesterday, Kosh said: CVS is constantly pushing vaccines. Text messages (which I have enabled to know when prescriptions are ready) and last time I was there, the POS terminal offered them and I had to find the decline button. Yes, I've never seen them this bad before, in terms of advertising. Every single method of getting the message out has been used, and I'm thinking that's because vaccine adoption after COVID has plummeted--and rightly so. But there are people at work who are getting every single COVID shot, and are getting sicker each time they get it, and they can't put two and two together. But that doesn't bother as much as the notice that the COVID shots are just fine for pregnant mothers when the safety signal was hidden in the data that 80% of pregnant women had serious issues with their pregnancies after the shot, and many of them lost the babies. I don't have the numbers in front of me but I believe Noami Wolf does as does Sasha Latypova.

Reply to vxbush in 1: As bad as all that is the damage to the integrity of health care overall is worse. It adds fuel to the irrational anti-vax community. And when the next epidemic alert comes along, the first reaction is skepticism.

Does anyone here know about the photonic AI systems being developed now? I'd like to have more details on the underlying infrastructure and how photonic calculations are done.

Behind a paywall. Linked at Powerline. Delegators, beware Delegators, beware: The Minnesota Star Tribune is out with a piece examining how “Gov. Tim Walz and his team failed to see the threat posed by fraud in state programs.” The report is based on a dozen anonymous sources and concludes that “Walz’s leadership style” is to blame. Evidently he “heavily delegated to his commissioners and senior staff,” none of whom were capable of drawing to his attention that Minnesota was becoming the fraud capital of the United States. One theory the report doesn’t stress test is whether all of this oopsy daisy ignorance amid a surplus of delegation was intentional—that is, whether Walz and his lieutenants purposefully ignored the fraud being perpetrated on Minnesota taxpayers because they didn’t want to anger a key Democratic constituency. In any case, now that Walz is a lame duck, a version of the story can be told. Left out of the story entirely are Walz’s lieutenant governor, Peggy Flanagan, who is running for Senate, and Minnesota attorney general Keith Ellison, who is running for a third term and certainly has ambitions for higher office. Huh. I am more cynical, everyone in MN Walz, Ilhan, and many in on the payola.

Reply to vxbush in 3: That's a very deep and technical rabbit hole. High level they use amplitude and wavelength shifts for computation. Advantages are much lower energy and heat over transistor based architecture.

Reply to vxbush in 1: CVS is also pushing Ozempic and GLP-1. As well as announcing new COVID vaccines in a banner on their home page.

Reply to Kosh's Shadow in 6: IMAO, we are only beginning to see the nasty side effects of GLP-1s. First it's indicated for Type-2 diabetes and morbid obesity. It is not indicated for how so many celebrities are using it, and it a normally functioning human bio-chemical, hormonal case I see huge downsides in short circuiting the insulin, glucose and intestinal track functions.

Reply to JCM in 7: I was never obese, but I got down to a good weight by eating. I'd have some real food in the afternoon instead of junk food. But, what works for me might not work for everyone. I still wonder if our gut bacteria has changed.

Reply to Kosh's Shadow in 8: I still wonder if our gut bacteria has changed. Very possible. I look to the prevalence of highly process foods, the removal of key nutrients, and additives. That IMAO throws off our metabolsim. We try to cook from stretch as much as possible. I'm slightly over weight. I like my food. The bottom line is calories in vs. calories out. Excepting true issues with a persons metabolism. The confounding factors could be our gut biome as well as what we are eating.
