Too many things breaking this year.

Dishwasher

Printer

Car had a sunroof leak (only got the sunroof to get the sideview camera; had to get that trim level)

Now a barely over a year old laptop has another problem. August it was showing disk warnings, but not enough for HP to repair. So I got extended warranty, and it will pay off.

Wednesday, HP support app came up and reported hardware changes - missing memory. Windows still shows 32 GB.

UEFI shows 32, but diagnostics report half the system board memory as it did in August.

Need to open it and re-seat the memory, but I doubt that is the problem. Have to tell the actually fairly good HP chatbot that I did that first.

And now it says I have to contact a human. Windows says 32 GB, but UEFI diagnostics does not. Again, glad I got the extended warranty

So HP says the memory Windows shows is correct but cannot give a reasonable explanation of why the UEFI diagnostics shows less.

Would MemTest86 free help give you answers? It would let you test the memory without having to boot up Windows by running it on flash drive.

For whenever the next round of rioting by the communist//Islamofascist coalition might be, I think I’m going to cash in by selling a festive package of three gasoline bombs decorated with a ribbon.

i’ll call it the Molotov Ribbontop Pack.

I ran the Microsoft memory diagnostic and it shows no errors but required my bootlockere recovery code and for me to reset my PIN.

The HP UEFI diagnostics (run from the BIOS) find 32 GB.

This combination says sthere is something wrong with the way the board config is stored; not a RAM problem, but will require a hard fail to be replaced.
